    back from the dyno...

Dyno Dynamics dyno's are called the heartbreak dyno for a reason... but still I was expecting more. the car is stage 2+, (unknown)software, catless turbo back exhaust, IPP intercoolers, EVOMS intake... and this is all she made:

    Then: 1985 Audi coupe GT, 1990 Audi 90 sport, 2000 Audi S4 stage 2+, 2002 Audi TT 225.
    Now: 2011 Audi S4

    Re: back from the dyno...

Thanks, its ok I guess. the software is just a little conservative, I could upgrade to something more serious like GIAC... but do I want to put that extra stress on my 95k mile turbos? its a hard decision...

    Re: back from the dyno...

actually this dyno seems to read spot on. That puts you at about 320 crank I think. I think with a stronger chip you may make a bit more. Be happy, these are good numbers for pump gas

not bad considering i have seen a full stage 3 put down 300 and a b7 s4 put down 225 on a dyno dynamics.

    Re: back from the dyno...

Yeah, don't stress at all. I have a similar setup (2+, GIAC, catless ASP DP's, APR exhaust) and on race gas on a killer mustang dyno my max hp was like 227. Use it as a baseline and a tool for any future upgrades to gauge gains. It's tough to compare different brand dynos that are each calibrated differently anyways and at different elevations. Looks good!

Oh, and any bigger pics of your avatar? I'm going to be doing a similar paint scheme with my y-pipe and bipipe shortly.

    Re: back from the dyno...

got back from the dyno myself. DynoJet at 250awhp and 304tq. I was boosting 8pds on a GIAC Xplus, G2 Neuspeed exhaust, piggie pipes, itb intake. Also I have leaks, intake mani gaskets and all other gaskets are done for. 2 coils are done for and throwin codes. The tech said I'm losin massive amounts of power and I very much agree. My A/F was 8 instead of 11. So STG 2+ at 250...not so sure thats accurate, you should get it tuned man.
Also after the dyno the following tuesday i got it reprogrammed with an updated GIAC xplus file. Boosting 23pounds now.

Wonder what I'll be pulling now minus all the stuff going wrong. One things for sure, not 250 or even 260

Not sure if that first boost figure is a typo, but if you were only boosting 8lbs and you were 240whp, I'd dare venture to say that's a happy dyno. You should really get your boost leaks checked because it's def not healthy to run 23lbs of boost on KO3's (assuming you have KO3's).

    Re: back from the dyno...

I should be around 288awhp from what I have. The guy who had the car before me was a friend of mine. The first figure is not a typo. I was boosting just about 8 pounds on the meter and my gauge.
It's the 2nd page, pearly. Also there is a dyno chart attached to a post. Running hella rich

    Re: back from the dyno...

I made 283awhp on 034's dyno which was on ca 91oct MTM stage 2 software. Dyno was called dynomite not sure how that compares to a mustang dyno.

    Correction, should be around 288.3527awhp.

Unless you know what other stage 2+ S4's made on that particular dyno (not just the same brand dyno) you really can't make too specific of a guess of where you "should" be at (unless of course the guy you bought the car from dynoed it on that same dyno when the car had no issues.) The dyno arguements will never cease, so it needs to be reiterated that there will always be differences between different dynos and dynoing conditions, therefore getting too specific when comparing #'s from different cars on different dynos/conditions is in vain. You could say his in inaccurate, he could say yours is inaccurate, it's all relative (until you compare both to a dyno that is 100% for sure scientifically accurate.)

Having said what I said above, I still say that dyno reads high. I can't imagine stock boost with a turboback exhaust and upgraded intercoolers netting ~55 crank hp, unless the program really advances the timing or something.

    Beautiful car BTW

    I agree.

Using a standard 28% drivetrain loss that puts you (OP) at 321hp & 371tq...sounds pretty good.

With the IC's, it should be pretty consistent on the street too, which is what really matters.

    Re: back from the dyno...

    that dyno reads very conservative.

    saw a modded b6 s4 put down 240whp.

    stock evo put out 190whp.

i wouldnt worry myself with dyno numbers. only for comparison on the same dyno.

    Re: back from the dyno...

can definitely only compare cars and numbers that were run on the same dyno, the same day, under the same conditions. I ran my car on a dyno jet and put down 281awhp/311tq on APR Stage 2+. My buddy with the exact same setup ran on a mustang dyno and only put down 232awhp/295tq. It was two different dynos, one in extremely hot weather and one in extremely cold weather. There are so many different factors to dynos and the numbers they put out it isnt even funny. You need to compare apples to apples...

EilTTe: Did they run i flow fans infront of your IC's? I didn't see them on that video that might be one more reason for slightly lower output.

Also don't mean to thread jack but are going to the Eurowise dyno day on 7 Feb?

They had one large fan infront of the car. I'm not planning on it since its a 2wd dyno
