car has 126k, 12v v6 1997 compression all at 170 besides 1 cylinder with 160.
ok well i had my timing belt and water pump replaced at 85k miles but there is no evidence the rollers or tensioner were replaced... It was not at a audi dealer and the price of the job makes it seem like they were in fact not replaced. I have proof of this with records. I bought the car at 112k and have done tons of maintenance to it. CA's, TRE's, shocks/springs, oil changed 4 times throughout my ownership with synthetic, fuel filter, fixed egr sensor for a hose(code thrown). all new brakes(pads, rotors, lines, fluid), exhaust, spark plugs/wires. Drive belt was also replaced at 50k by original owner. The only things that haven suprisingly gone wrong with my car yet are coils, stock clutch(very high engagement point, no slipping really) wheel bearings, cv joints, ect....
ANYWAY... Now for the suspected problem, In almost every gear but 5th, after 2500k-3000k rpms, i will get a ticking or something that sounds like a ticking but isnt super loud that will continue with engine speed. Up until around 4500rpms. A few people that know a good bit about cars say its normal. But i dont think so because iv been noticing that it is more common and noticeable when the engine is cold pulling away from my house and stuff not even shifting after 2800 rpm's. Also my engine at idle doesnt sound as smooth as it should. i has a slight tick at idle and am thinking the tensioner could be to do with that..
what do you guys think?
