Lightbulb AWE qaud-tip exhaust or AWE FMIC?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
What would you do first? I was planning on going with the exhaust but they've been taking so long to make them that I'm starting to think that their FMIC is a better mod, especially after reading that magazine article on it. It is cold out here in Jersey so the car is running great but I remember how heatsoaked it got at Waterfest when it was about a hundred degrees out. I am automatic so I might just have a muffler shop custom build me an exhaust with magnaflows later on. All ideas appreciated.

Re: AWE qaud-tip exhaust or AWE FMIC?

^^ i dont know about the FMIC being "better" - that is a pretty generic way to put it. I currently have the Quad tip exhaust and love it. Yes, they do take a long time and i became frustrated but the day i drove out of the garage with it on, it was well worth the wait. Now, correct me if i am mistaken, but i believe the AWE FMIC requires you to take off that steel beam that sits behind the bumper (safety feature)--i don't think that is worth it. I have thought about this a lot, and i think the best way to go for an FMIC if you are taking into consideration warranty/saftey (which taking that steel piece off will void warranty), I would most likely get an FMIC that fits under that steel beam such as the Ghost Squad Garage one does (which is cheaper than the AWE one and gets great reviews).

As for the FMIC being "better" for your car -- if he means it cools the turbo better allowing for longer turbo life and more power, he is correct -- but at the same time, if your turbo is able to produce more power at a lower temperature, that means that there is going to be more back pressure produced from this increase in power.....In other words, your car will potentially be bogged down by the stock exhaust not being able to handle more back pressure....

I would do a short ram air intake/exhaust combo first, and then an fmic.

You don't have to take off the crash bar. You take it off for installation then it mounts right back on.

Re: AWE qaud-tip exhaust or AWE FMIC?

I have both, if youre running stock turbo go with exhaust and a test pipe first. You may not notice a major power boost with either, but the exhaust will give your car a mean sound and a better look. I also love the fmic, but I'm not a big fan of the looks. I painted my pipes black and Im putting grills in on each side so that you cant see it. If you have any questions about either, pm me

Yeah. There were tons of people complaining to AWE that the front crossbar comes out, reducing the safety of the car. AWE replied by stating that the crossbar comes out for installation, but bolts in on top of the FMIC.

Re: AWE qaud-tip exhaust or AWE FMIC?

thanks for the info guys. I already have an intake and will NOT do a test pipe. maybe will get a labree high flow cat in the future but first i wanna hear how the exhaust sounds without additional mods. I ordered the exhaust on christmas special for 919 so i dont need to buy the one in the classifieds. im just getting bored with waiting and i get a chill down my spine every time i hear a turbo car with one of those tin can mufflers thinking that my car might end up sounding like that.

those same people that think the crash bar is permanently removed for the AWE FMIC clearly didn't do their homework.
Excuse me sir, but you left your muffler at the light back there.

get the exhaust first. If you are on a stock turbo and you don't plan on going to a BT anytime soon, then the FMIC can wait.

    Eastwick -
Your steel beam stays in tact... The FM fits right behind it... Research dude!
haha I know you aren't bashing me, but if there is one thing i have learned from this forum, it is that I definitely have to do my research before i make any comments so i don't get nailed!! My bad on the Crash Bar!!

BTW red... I called up a friend of mine tonight who works as the head mechanic at a Porsche/Ferrari/Spyker dealer in Pittsburgh (i trust every word he says) - He told me the same thing he told me when i first started modding my car -- Exhaust + Intake is the perfect way to go at first. FMIC is something for the track.

Also, your car will not sound like a fart can SI civic no matter what you put on it -- i do not know why .. probably bc German cars > Japanese Cars haha. But thats just my technical input on the situation
