    do this:

completely rip out stock air box and stick a nice cone filter on your MAF. if you want to elaborate a little, go ahead and get your self a couple heat-shield plates. save your $300+

I agree, make sure however to get some brackets so the whole thing is not flopping around. you will also need to get a small oil breether type filter for the SAI pump (the maller hose connected to the airbox)

    Re: forge splitter valve.

I did that same thing in my last jetta. I took a small sheet of steel and cut out a hole for the maf then bent a 90 at the base to attatch it to the car, painted it black and threw it on with a cone in place of the stock airbox. Very simple budget mod although it doesn't do anything really besides dressing up your bay.

    Re: forge splitter valve.

By the way my splitter is noticeable inside the car with stage one but I cant remember how many clicks I adjusted it. I'd assume though with more boost it should be even more noticeable. Just take some time to play with it a bit.

    Re: forge splitter valve.

I bought Mikes heat shield package with a AMSOIL cone filter for $140 shipped. I think it was a good deal and have been very happy with it. I have an EVOMS DV and everyone says it sounds awesome, much louder with a cone vs the stock box. I don't know if its just me but I also felt better acceleration after the change to a cone type filter. Oh I have my stock box for sale with an almost new K&N drop in filter if anyone is interested.
