if an s4 has a bad transmission that needs a swap, does anybody know a good place to find one? could i do a swap with other models? like the 200? 90? cgt? or could i even go as new as the b5 a4 and s4s? i dont know what kind of technicalities apply....

I would go for a used RS2 transmission. I believe they are 6 speed...so itll be more fun.

HOWEVER, it has been more cost effective for me in the past just to get it rebuilt. I did the work myself, Internals were only like $250. they run like new.

if RS2 gearbox is too expensive look for a 2.5 tdi one...it has 6 speed and has endurance to cope with power of s4...and bolts right up
