    power steering problem

i'm a relatively recent owner of a 2003 A4 Avant, just picked it up in November.
About 2 weeks ago it started spewing the power steering fluid out past the cap on the reservoir. my mechanic doesn't know what to make of it, the local audi dealership doesn't either. the entire system was purged of fluid and refilled per audi instructions, it was ok for a week but now the fluid is gone again.
    any suggestions?

    Re: power steering problem

Sounds like you may have a one way or check valve failing. But where is the question.

    Re: power steering problem

I would have the boots at the end of the steering rack inspected. They might be retaining all of the fluid as it's leaking out. If that isn't where it's going then I have no clue!

It's been a while, but now I know. the spew was the result of the power steering filter being completely and comprehensively clogged.

X2! It's follow up posts like this that help to add to the overall knowledge base on the forums. Especially when there are unusual symptoms involved. (rep to you! )
