    Re: Downpipes!!!

you know considering the conversion rate and shipping, your better off buying SSAC and selling off the catback. if they fit nicely i'd buy them, as SSAC is questionable with its fittings.

anyways, if you have the cash, get them and tell us how they fit up

Downpipes feature 3" stainless steel flex bellow and are supplied unterminated w/o a flange, to be terminated by the user or installer.

why isn't it your cup of tea? Do you enjoy being ass-raped spending 1200+ for two pieces of metal. Stop being such a purist snob just because it's "ss autochrome", they are good enough for my stage 3+......why shouldn't they be good enough for your garbage-ass k03's.....Can't stand people like you that think just because it's chinese/knock-off it's junk.

    Hehe...whats a B4 S4?

Clicked the link and apparently the sale is done and over with...but if it wasn't over, I'd say try them out...you can ALWAYS buy used DPs...I did and mine work great. =)

Not to sure about the whole "fitments from 00 to 04" thing, seems iffy.
I say be sure to have a muffler shop or welder near by in case things don't fit correctly

oh trust me....it's NOT a money issue. I spent about 8500 on my stage 3 set-up. it's just realizing that you'de be incredibly stupid to spend $1000+ on two pieces of metal. The SSAC dp's are almost exact replicas of AWE's. Guess those must not be that guys cup of tea either. I mean hey, if he has 1000's of dollars just lying around to blow....more power to him. But most of us realize, and are smart enough to see that paying these prices for exhaust's are downright stupid, it's robbery. My exhaust is 98% the same as AWE's turbo-back, works great for a tweaked 25psi stage 3 pump gas car. You can't sit here and tell me that paying $2,500 for an car that's worth like $12,000 makes even a lick of sense. Even when these cars were brand new, the prices were still stupid high. On my M3 I ran "knock-off" headers on it, and made MORE power than my buddy with identical mods, and he had $1200 supersprint headers, I had ebay knock-off's. The were awesome, had them on for almost 100K with NO problems, not even fitment. I just think people are purist snobs just because it's "ebay" or "chinese" it's junk. Sure, I would never, EVER buy a chinese ebay turbo.....but that's something that could potentially destroy my motor it is went south. But an exhaust? Really? It's some metal, and it's a copy of awe's....and they already put in the "R&D" time for "flow characteristics" , so it's going to be damn near the same. Anyone who says otherwise is foolish.

I dont know why you get so offended. I didnt say anything negative about SSAC. Just because im going to buy a different product than you dosnt mean you need to get so worked up.

I never said any of the following words: Chinese, junk, knockoff, ebay, R&D, FLow characteristics. Theres a sticky at the top of the forum that offers plenty of proof these work just fine, its hard to make a shitty exhaust for a turbo car. You yourself have proven they work just wonderfull on a stage 3 car at 25psi.

You dont need to talk down to me because im on stock turbos. You accuse me of being a "purist snob" based off one post which has NOTHING negative in it. You infer that im stupid because of my product choices. Meanwhile you act like your better than me because you have k04's and brag about how much youve spent on your setup. I dont care how much youve spent on your car. I dont want to fight with you.

There are competing products on the market so people have coices. Just because you got SSAC dosnt mean everyone else has to. I agree other companies are way over priced and SSAC offers a comparable product.

If every brand charged the same ammount, say $700 would you make the same choice? Out of APR, ASP, AWE, 034, Labree, SSAC do you think SSAC has the best fitment and customer support? Boris cant even find a phone number and the company rarely responds to emails from what i can tell from a google search.

The product is fine, but like i said nicely in my first post, not my cup of tea.

Those 034 downpipes look great to me because they offer a compromise of price and performance from a well know company with a GREAT reputation.

    Re: Downpipes!!!

Honestly for me it really depends on the parts. I would have no problem experimenting with a cat back type thing, but DPs are a huge pain in the ass to have to re-do should a weld break, rub, or just not fit.

What I find a little odd about folks when looking for parts is no one seems to understand they can negotiate. I got my ASPs on the cheap, but you have to negotiate some. Calling up a tuner and just paying asking price is silly. Out of my entire stage 3 setup, I have paid asking price for ZERO parts.

I have no doubt that some of these ebay parts are just as good as some of the tuners parts. But understand, if you want the parts you want, for ebay prices, its nothing more than a fone call away as long as you dont mind a little haggle for em.

Don't quote me on this but here's what I found off the MTM website on their DPs+Exhaust kit:

    Comparison mtm-performance with series-performance

    max. performance kW/Umin: 273/5400 195/5800
    max. torque Nm/Umin: 520/3300 400/1850
    v-max: 279km/h 250 km/h
    0-100 km/h: 4,7 s 5,9 s
    MTM DP+Exhaust Kit

The above numbers are off the euro spec S4; the increase from the euro-stock 400 to MTM-spec 520nm is 120nm/umin....in US-terms, its 88-lb/ft increase from stock.

Hope that answers your question. Techs chime in if I'm wrong.

    Re: Downpipes!!!

Wow 88 lb/ft of torque just for stock! Damn I bet these will open up my Stage 3! I'm still going with the SSAC DP's though! I figure the gains are close.

The 88lb/ft is from both the exhaust and DPs combined. Numbers to give a rough estimate off of.
