Tint problems in MA??

Those of you in MA..

do they actually care about window tint when they inspect your car in Massachusetts? I'm about to get my windows tinted and want to get just slightly darker than the limit (30%) on my front windows and was wondering if that was going to cause any problems. I hardly drive my car in MA anyways but just for the sake of the state inspection was wondering if they actually do use tint meters or just do a "visual" check, as the form says.

I roll my windows down and never had a problem with them even checking

they check. i work at a dealership and have 35% front 20% rear. the meter read 30/12% and the guy didnt even start the inspection he just sent my car out. luckily i go ins with some other techs

. and the first guy showed me the book with all the laws, 35% front and rear is legal. rear used to not matter.

i have 20 percent all the way around and i have been driving around for 2 weeks trying to get a place to pass me. Because of the factory 97% tint my windows are reading as 14% :/ If anyone knows of a place that will pass me for a few bucks let me know. Thanks

I used to rock 20%, but the device read 14%......I got by like that for a year. then got pulled over twice right before inspection. So I got em removed, and have been tintless for 2 years now....u don't just have to worry bout inspection, Cops look out for heavily tinted cars too.....it can be annoying

i just put on 30's, its not even that dark, so hopefully it won't get anyone's attention.

35% tint will bring it down to 28% tint or so, most audis have a very light tint already so if you add 35% it wont be 35%.

and even if you roll down your windows,they always ask to roll one up so they can meter the tint. its their job to check these things. some are more careless then others (this is who you need to find if youre trying to get away with things) but most are by the book.

how about you get it inspected, THEN get it tinted. worse comes to worst, you can throw a rock at the window and get a new one with the same tint for free from insurance haha...(dont condone, but it works)

I have 15 percent and it gets measured at 8 percent. If it wasn't so dark I don't think they would care. But where I am at now, I had to pull it off.

haha derek 8% tint and straight pipes...excellent combination. i keep my windows clear cuz theres already so much they can write my car up for

yeah, I have seen peeled them. I am going for the fishbowl look now. Car is still going to be loud, even louder actually, and whole lot louder with the open wastegate.
