either your drunk right now and i cant tell what are tryign to say or im too drunk to know what your saying. however its not a good idea to run staggered wheels on a quattro because it will mess with your turning and what not...and as far as stretching the tires go, it really doesnt matter what car you do it on.

    haha... really.

well to be nice... yes you can stretch the rear... bwoy01 i think his name on here is (search for it.. it wont kill you) is running 245 on a 9.5" wheel. not a CRAZY stretch, but he is stretching and he is fine. Capt Obvious, same deal. he is stretching as well...

and since you only joined 2-3 weeks ago il be nice... but please use the search button. they have a million topics... or just PM someone about it who you see posting bout staggered fitment (ahem ahem...capt obvious) and they will gladly help you out. we are all very nice..

i got 9" rears and 8.5" fronts with stretched tires... the dude i bought the wheels from did same size all around so the rear is stretched nice and the front is not so stretched so i gott figure out wat size tire to do in front since i need new tires cuz i wanna stretch the fronts as much as the rear so i can go a smidge lower in the front

Yeah im running 9.5.rear and 8.5 front with a stretch. As long as you run the right tire size you wont mess up the quattro.

I'm giving you a pass on this one since I'm pretty sure you weren't sober while writing this, but WRONG.

And yes, you can stretch tires with Quattro. Most people don't realize this, but tires get taller when you stretch them, so the tire height you think you're losing by stretching the sidewalls gets cancelled out by the bead of the tire rotating, so you more or less end up with a net tire height loss of zero (it's hard to explain without pictures, so you'll just have to trust me on this one).

    Re: srteched wheels on qauttro

A little bit of difference won't hurt the quattro, but I would be more concerned that stretching the tires might be bad for the TIRES. Wouldn't it cause more internal stress in the sidewalls? To me: a) the tires are designed to operate safely on a specific range of wheel widths, and b) to me, it looks a little hooptie, like you should also be running 200 spoke Daytonas.

I don't mean to sound like someone's dad, but you crazy kids get out of my yard.

So what are you saying, that if you run 225's or 215's all around they are still going to be the same heigth no matter the width of the rear wheel?

Correct. Unless you're doing some hardcore stretching (like 215's on a 10 or something).

Avanteix wrote a long thing about staggered set ups for those who want to read and learn something and haven't read it yet.

And OP, as far as wheels, listen to Capt. He's the proclaimed wheel whore/guru.

i know the history of stretch, but stretch and/or its sibling poke are probably the worst looks on cars today. it really isn't hard to properly size tires on staggered wheels, but i'm one of those crazy people who likes to their car.

You can still your car hard and get good handling with stretched tires. In fact, some tires handle better when stretched a little (Falkens for example, since they tend to have soft sidewalls and stretching stiffens them up).

there is a difference between stretching a little and STRETCH (my experience in the mk2 world). also, stretching a tire doesn't make the sidewall stiffer, the higher pressure needed to "safely" STRETCH a tire and the 'pulled from both directions' syndrome make a tire harder to roll over making it feel stiffer. my personal preference is putting the widest tire possible on a wheel (within manufacture specs). just expressing my opinions/taste; to each their own.
