    Sirius Issues...

Using the great DIY for Sirius install at audidiy.com i bought and installed the sirius unit. with a slight problem.

First i checked and moved the CAM because the head unit said "NO SAT"

My car had a little slide out shelf in the trunk. I slid it out and the wires were bundled right behind it.....how easy is that. I connected up all the wires but 1
There was on only 1 green sat antenna wire....no brown. I connected the system up with on the green and the stereo says "Antenna" and no audio. Occasionally it will show the weather channel (184) but never a sound.

Then i read somewhere that i may need a splitter.

To be completely sure i tore into the trunk and searched for that brown antenna wire...Nothing!

So i thought i'd ask. Do i just need a splitter? or another sat antenna? Any thoughts?

    Re: Sirius Issues...

so i did some research and found that i may need a satellite antenna splitter. I had some scrap sirius antennas laying around and just spliced them together.

and what do ya know...it works. I get the sirius menu and the phone number scrolling across the screen on ch 184....but (there always seems to be a but)

i dont have any audio on channel 184 (and i believe i should). Before i activate it i was just checking to see if and why there isn't any audio.

    thanks

Did you install an iPod adapter or remove any connector from the back of the radio?

    Re: Sirius Issues...

same issue here, I had to use a splitter in reverse (with a few vw wire parts) to combine my 2wire antenna to the newer style 1wire tuner. It didn't give audio until activated, and it works fine.

Only trick will be to try going under a bridge and see if there's a long/short interuption (if I remember correctly, the 2nd wire was for repeaters on the ground).
