Blinker is playing games....

So I just purchased a 2003 Audi A4. Im experiencing a blinker problem. When I turn on the left turn signal on it works just as it should, when I turn on the right one, It turns on the left turn signal to 2 blinks then switches over to the right? Then after I complete the turn and the blinker goes off, it will blink to the left two more times. Anyone else experience this, or does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks a lot.

People have had this problem on here and It seems to be common. Mine did the same for quite a while. The blinker stopped being erratic about the time this school term started and has not given me trouble since. No Idea way.

I would suspect the problem has to do with the connections inside the mechanism.

My actual turn signal stalk was the cause for this,it did that then eventually only made left turns.. was a pita to get out and replace, check the connections inside the column..Good luck

Very common problem. Do a search and you should be able to find some discussions on this. I get this issue sporadically as well. From what I understand, you need to replace the turn signal lever/stalk. My situation hasn't gotten to the point where it's happening so frequently that I need to replace it yet but I know one day I will have to do it!

Has this erratic turn signal issue gotten worse over the past 6 months or so?

I was ordering parts unrelated for my B6 from GenuineAudiParts the other day and decided to simply buy a new turn signal lever stalk (http://www.genuinevwaudiparts.com/pa...layCatalogid=0). I should be getting it within the next week.

some of them are caused by the emergency relay unfortunetely mine was the stalk as well too much work to replace..

I get ghost clicks on mine, which was common on VW's as well. I did a lot of research on turn signal issues, and often just getting in the column and using contact cleaner on all the internal workings has fixed some of the probelms. I just ordered a long skinny 8 size Torx to get in there.

I am going to try and clean the contacts before I go through the headache of pulling all that stuff off to replace the turn signal assembly.

Other times it was the hazard switch that was messing things up, and that might have even been a recall on some VW's.
