haltech or AEM for B5 QTM???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm trying to build a Megasquirt II v3.0 for my GT3076r'd B5 QTM. I emphasize the "trying" part as much as possible...
My thoughts are that I need a backup plan. Has anyone had any success with Haltech or AEM standalone EMS's in a B5?
I'm familiar with both of those platforms and their associated tuning software. And should I have too much more difficulty with the Megasquirt project, I'm going to need to choose something that will get me back on the road, and quick!

    Any suggestions?

lugtronic, megasquirt, or 034 are pretty much our choices of standalone.

Which EMS are you using? install and tune yourself?

I am VERY interested in trying a Haltech system if my MS effort proves futile (and by the sound of things, I am probably going to list what I have for sale as I'm hearing that I can't even keep my Air COnditioning on Megasquirt... -no sequential injection, no sequential ignition, NO A/C!!! -sounds like a turbo transplanted Honda, eh? The A/C thing will be the deal breaker, and if I find that it is absolutely FACT, I'm going to need to get busy on something else and fast.

I'd really appreciate anything about your Haltech setup you're willing to share, and if I go this route, I'll DEFINITELY need to take you up on your maps offer.

Re: haltech or AEM for B5 QTM???

I had a lot of issues with my haltech. I ditched it for a Vipec V88, which probably would have been awesome, but unfortunately both ecu's got stolen.

I wouldn't recommend the Haltech, I know the price / features ratio is tempting, but it is certainly not the most stable ecu ever. I had perpetual issues with corrupted firmware / maps, as well as 1 hardware failure (comms chip) over the years I messed around with an E11.

If you must insist on fooling with it, I *might* have a crappy map that will get you running somewhere.
