    100mm exhaust tips...anyone got?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Considering to install 100mm exhaust tips on my 1.8T. I just want the look but nothing loud as its a daily driver. Cut out on bumper is 5" on the widest part but I still dont know if 100mm is over the top.

Does anyone have any pictures of 100mm exhaust tips on their A4? Anyone know how big the DTM exhaust tips are as I think those are just right for the car.

    Thanks

    J

That's about 4 inches, right? The popular Magnafow 14851 and 14829 are four inches - there are lots of pictures of those around.

Spend the time and money to have them perfectly centered

How much should it cost to have them aligned? I just installed a magnaflow 16601 system on mine and i worked for hours to get them straight w/ no luck so I'm planning on bringing it to a muffler shop to do. I heard having them weld in a spreader like the stock exhaust has helps. I'm so anal about it, i want them perfect.

If any exhaust shop just says 'we are going to heat the hanger and bend it' get your car out of there immediately!

You have to cut the old exhaust hangers off, center the tips and then reweld them on. Having a crossmember in between the mufflers helps as well.

When that is done you can also drill out some of the mount of the rubber exhaust hanger to allow for some slight adjustments and you can add some thin shims to perfectly set the tip in place.

Awesome, thanks for the advice winston! Any idea what a typical shop would charge for something like this? And should I go to a performance shop or would any type of muffler shop do?

This will actually be the first time my car has gone anywhere to have another person touch it since i've owned it (besides getting it inspected).

You're just doing tips, right? I called around several places today to get my 14829's installed, and it went from $100 - $150.
