    I bought my 99.5 1.8tqm not too long ago, and shortly after installed the MTM Stage 1+ chip.

    Ever since, I have noticed the boost has been decreasing. I installed the AWE tuning boost gauge, and recorded a 13 lbs of boost pretty much all the same in every gear. I though, hmm... maybe its the diverter valve?

    Nope. I just installed the Forge Splitter valve today, and although it does have a bit of a difference, its still not boosting right.

    We take it in, and guess what I find. Apparently, my turbo is shot. I believe its the wastegate thats fucked up the most, but I cant confirm that until I open it up!


    Anyways, what do you guys think should be my next step? I was planning on doing full turbo-back exhaust next, but I guess its gonna have to be the turbo. I dont have much money and I am going to school right now, so buying a BAMFT right now isnt really an option.

    So, should I just get another KO3? How bad are the eBay ones? Should I do a small upgrade to a KO4? Maybe go bigger?

    I will also be having my license suspended in a few days (hopefully not for too long) so that will give me some time to stop bullshitting and make some money.

    I was thinking somewhere within a budget of $1000 - $1500?

    if you want just another ko3 just pick up a used one in the classifieds for like $150-$300 till you can go BT

    I would go gt28rs eliminator. There going to give you good hp for the price and not much more $$ then a ko4. That's just my .02

    A bad turbo can still produce 13lbs of boost? How are they verifying this? I know the wastegate is not that easy to access.

    Mine I know the wasegate is done. I can spike 15 but will drop off to 10. I have presher tested it and no leakes.

    does it buzz after you decelerate for a few seconds, cuz i had a cracked waste gate it held pressure of like 5psi and when i released the gas it would buzz for like a second.

    Mine acts the same way(boost to 15 and fall), been thinking it might be the wastegate. Tired the pressure tests and everything just like you and can't find a leak anywhere. I actually have a K03s in my garage waiting for the day I can afford to send it off to Gpop to upgrade to a K04. Guess I might really see a difference that day.

    Yea it chatters any time I get off the gas and it's so anoying. I have another ko3 laying around don't know if it's good just not motivated to put it on to see if it's any better.

    That's normal on a K03. It shouldn't hold all the way. Same thing mine does

    Yeah it does! Every time...

    The mechanic showed me another KO3 that had it happen to it, and I couldnt find any pictures but a little pink looking circle there was the thing that was causing the rattling sounds, and a bit of the wastegate was melted off on the corner.

    So if I were to go BT, what kind of a budget would it fit into?
    I have a forge diverter valve and will be getting exhaust. Am I gonna need a clutch?

    normal ko3 on a b5 is 5-9psi that's what Audi says at least I dont know how you guys get higher without chip, the buzzz noise after deceleration is the waste gate not closing completely you could either replace wastegate as there are kits but why not just replace turbo (I have a few spares if you need one) or you can start going BT or larger but I hear it gets pricey I haven't done it I can't afford it. I had the buzz replaced it with KO3s and car is running great no more annoying buzzz.

    I am peacing my kit together and I have spent 2,700 and all I need is a downpipe yet. A stock clutch will not be able to take the power of a big turbo.

    mine does 18psi but I can hold at 15psi with GIAC chip I was told 22psi oh well.

    A buddy of mine found a re-built K03 out of a 2001 Audi S4 V6 bi-turbo. Its all OEM, but had it rebuilt, then sold the car and still has it.

    He wants $150 for it.
    Will it fit my car? And $150 is a good enough price right?

    EDIT: Called the guy. Its a K03s, but it will not mount the same. I guess its a 3 bolt instead of 2, or vice-versa, but he says I can get an adapter for it really cheap.

    Is this something that I should go with?

    Well, from what i understand one of the S4's turbos will fit but the other wont cuz it has a longer outlet pipe or something, if it has one pipe that sort of protrudes out a bit with a few bends then no that one wont fit.

    Mine will boost up to about 17-18(not is first more like 16) and about 5500 or so I'm back down to about 10 or so... That normal?

    That's better then mine. Start in 3rd at 2k spike 15 by 3kand back to 10 by 4300.
