AFAIK they would have a half sized "M" on the plate if it was a manufacturer test vehicle. At least that's why we do here in MI, and I see a LOT of "M"-tagged cars around Detroit metro.

Either way, it's Quattro for a reason, why not test it up/down there?

R8 test mule spotted on I-70 and Youngsfield, snapped a quick pic before he took off on the HWY-58 ramp to head towards golden. Had wires all taped up on pass side with antennas and 3 laptops riding co-pilot with him.

A sign they're driving these cars hard in all kinds of weather conditions to test for problems. This is a good thing.

I don't think that's a V10...the R8 4.2 also has oval openings with 2 pipes per side. The R8 5.2 has single oval RS style pipes on each side. Can't tell from the pic which it is.

The real differentiating item that tells the story here is the body design.

the 5.2 has much bigger side vents and has less slats on the front and rear grill design.

well.. I guess your right but you can never really tell with theses test mules. They could just use the old R8 body and have the v10 just for testing purposes.

Everything looks like 4.2L. Bumpers, side skirts, blades, etc. If they have a 5.2 in there, they aren't advertising... ;)
