Hey. Its been a long time since I have been on here. I have been through an M3, a Ducati, and am currently driving a tuned 996 C4S.

I still have my GIAC chip in packaging that was removed from my B6 A4 K04. I was told I can get some sort of credit from GIAC towards another chip for another car if I return this one. Is this true? A friend with a B7 wants to chip it and I would like to help him out.

The GIAC credit policy would not work in your particular situation. It would only be valid if you wanted to upgrade your existing socketed ECU to a flash, for use in the same vehicle.

    Re: GIAC Chip

the new way is to flash, GIAC did make a few solder on chips for the B6 though. unless you have the proper equipment (not just a $10 solder iron) and have had experience working with circuit boards you will have to take the chip and ECU somewhere to have it installed once you pull your ECU out. it's very easy to trash the whole ECU doing this, then your out the cost of a new ECU which will be more then the $499 flash you should have gotten in the first place :P. not really worth much more then $10 in my opinion.
