    people will say....

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
that this thread is worthless for now....

but i am excited - and you can consider this an official teaser of things to come. (in a round-about way anyways)

nothing new so to speak, and nothing that some people here don't already know about.... but i'm too excited to not post something.

    teaser shot i guess?

like i said - good things are to come.... and that's only one piece of the puzzle

p.s. - that picture is just for you doug hahaha. since that's as close to "side-by-side" as a 2871 and a 3076 will ever be

jk, but we need to hit a dyno together sometime soon. spring will be my next big opening to make a trip.

sure am! but like i said --- that's only one tiny part of what's happening to the car.

also tracks open back up soon. record = smashed so long as my car is in a single piece... since i actually launch my car lol. (hopefully i won't be the only one breaking it either. David, i have especially high expectations of you and expect you to deliver this year!)

2009 is the year of the B6 on Audizine... the B5 guys better watch out! (even if i'm using a few parts from their cars )

doug has a 2871... that's a picture of a 2871 next to a 3076, i'm just poking fun at a friend who i personally think needs a bigger snail on the killer setup that he has.

granted his car is butter smooth and puts every other BT or BAT car that i've seen to shame in terms of daily drive-ability.

i am, never said that was a picture of the exact turbo... its more for a size reference -- especially for all the eliminator and 28 series guys on here. figured it's a good kick in the pants

i actually really like the drilled housing on the 3071. the 35R has more holes and smaller ones though doesn't it? I know it looks a little goofier than the 3076/4088 style.

nothing wrong with a 4088 either shawn -- it's not too late

even though i think it's rediculous that you even said that. considering who cares what it looks like when you're not going to see it.

and 2, i don't see why anyone would put a stock Garrett turbo on their car these days with the options and upgrades FP has now.

but get the HTA86. it's got the housing you're looking for and it will blow the doors off of the off the shelf 3582r

I spent 3 hours yesterday reading a thread on a BMW forum about how to interpret them and how to figure out where on the map your setup would run. Finally got it though. With the 35R, about 75% of the RPM range is on the map, with the 4088 only about 30% is lol

You will see it, as it most likely wont have any inlet pipe again. I can get the standard turbo's from numerous sources and pay way under retail. I do not have any sources set up for the HTA turbo's. A few 100 bucks way be worthwhile but 700-800 bucks more for the same turbo, sorry but Id rather have the 700-800 bucks for something else to aid in performance. Can you get the HTA turbo's in TS?

Everyone is jumping on the HTA............. All these cars you see running the HTA have engines that can breath and SERIOUS money into making them breath much better.

HTA is not a magic bullet.....

A regular 35r and a nice tune is going to go WAY FURTHER than an HTA and an average tune.

Ok ... whats your point? He's going to have a B7 w/ a 35R, good for him Does he have a shop thats going to get a proper flashed file for the setup? And make a complete bolt on kit? Or does he think he is going to be the only one with a BAT B7?

BTW, please don't let me get a 2nd car built and running before you finish the 1st one!

jk, but we need to hit a dyno together sometime soon. spring will be my next big opening to make a trip.

I just saw this now, but can't see the pictures since I'm at work (gov't internet security).

My 28 series turbo kicks even harder now than last time you rode in my car. Greg was right. 28psi just beyond 3krpm and holds up to my stock redline! No more boost bleed off as RPMs climb. The car is completely different now and even more enjoyable to drive. Granted I'm way outside its efficiency range but still..

Your trans is sitting in my garage. I'm sorry. Been too busy to properly box it up (ie: wooden frame). Might get to it tonight or tomorrow (I need to since I'm going snowboarding this weekend). I apologize for the delay. Something about trying to finagle a transmission in 15F weather after a 10hr work day does not go well with this old man. Even if the beard keeps me warm.

BTW, please don't let me get a 2nd car built and running before you finish the 1st one!
    its going to be legit.

And Shawn, I know the B6 was running and everything but you didn't even give it time to get the most out of the setup, I'm fine with having my car down longer and getting a lot more out of it in the end

I concur.... Jakes car to back that point up!

The gains for the $$ needed to get my car where I wanted it was nowhere near worthwhile, nor did I have another 3-4k to put into a built head to most likely still be disappointed. The B7 is going to get me where I want to be powerwise with the setup I have planned and budgeted. Plus what it can represent locally for the business, as well as any setups/kits and/or parts it may help us sell in the future. The choice and gains with the B7 by far outweighs anything I could have done with the B6

Unfortunately the FSI platform is much more efficient due to the cylinder head design. Thus allowing better power gains for the money. Just gotta deal with that damn cam follower issue.

So there's no way around making a B6 1.8T head flow that much more efficient? What exactly does the FSI do to make these gains possible?

1.8 head --> make it Big Port (AEB). Bigger valves, port and polish.

FSI head --> direct port injection. The fuel injectors go directly into the cylinder combustion chamber versus the intake manifold. This equates to better combustion (more efficient).

What can the FSI engine, in which petrol is injected directly into the cylinders, do better than a conventional engine with fuel injection into the intake ports?

    # The answer is: It is distinctly more dynamic,
    # Both its torque and power output are higher,
    # Yet fuel consumption is simultaneously as much as 15 percent lower.
The only thing I hate is how Audi designed the high pressure fuel pump. The follower that rides off the intake cam (which runs the HPFP) is under a lot of stress and tends to wear quickly. Even with the new materials they are using on the newer followers. One has to check this follower for wear every 3k-5k miles (ESP if you're 'modding' the car to make more power). The Achilles heel but otherwise its pretty stout. Now, the TFSI is the way to go. I think they fixed the cam follower issue but I haven't read up much on the TFSI just yet.
