i'm just getting my feet wet with this whole detailing thing and i wanted your opinions on my first correction attempt. All polishing done with Porter Cable on Lake Country CCS pads.

My process was wash, clay, M83/orange X2, M80/white, zymol cleaner wax/blue.

while i was able to rid the CC of 90% of swirls/defects i still feel like there is a haze to the CC (see pics where light is reflecting). i keep seeing all these posts on here where people have their halogens shining and the reflection is crystal clear (you can see the details in the halogen lights thats how good they are). So the main concerns are the haze and that the paint looks lighter then the non polished section.

Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest int the world, shitty camera.

    Re: Input Needed

I can see the 50/50 shot...

I don't think you're working the M83 enough. Try spreading M83 at speed 3. Then work the polish at about speed 4-5 for 4 passes or even more. Make sure that your pad is rotating 1-2x per second. (I put a mark on the backing plate). The idea is that the polish breaks down as you work it. You've got it cutting, but you need to work it until it breaks down more and becomes a fine polish. The light color is from the marring caused by the rough cut of the 83.

the 50/50 shot im assuming was the the m80 with the white pad? did you follow up your first step with any additional steps? try a finishing pad with some kind of finishing polish to brighten up the finish.

NoNoNo! Hahaha, sorry...whenever you are doing a thorough polish, follow it up with wax that doesn't contain cleaners. The zymol wax you mention isn't all that great! If you looking for a OTC product, the new Megs Tech wax 2.0. If you want something better but more money, there are tons! Pinnacle Souveran, Poorboys Natty Blue, Megs #26...and plenty more!

    Goodluck and keep posting pictures~!

I only used the Zymol because these are practice attempts on a family members car. I am waiting until spring to do the real job on my car and i will be using Menzerna Polishes along with Wolfgang 3.0 Sealent and a nice wax on top of that. I will post pictures thats for sure.
