    Yayayayayayaya......broken

So my car has been running great and has been alot of fun until tonight on the "midnight run". Im pulling out of my house taking it easy and then take a right turn hit a small bump and than BAM!!!!! cars still running and still rolling just slowing down. I shift gears to try and speed up but nothing. I can change the gears with the engine on and it doesn't matter if the clutch is pushed in or not. Car will not move at all but it runs.

So this is what i think happened.

Crank to the flywheel is broken.
    Clutch is stuck open

thats my ideas Im in Corvallis so if anyone knows of a good place to go let me know.

Any ideas on what that problem is.

Pressure plate not fully disengaging is a common problem. Happened to me in April.

One of my axles came loose and that's what happened, except I kept hearing a clunk.

Yea that's what the guy said at Aamco is that is usually what causes that to happen. I hope that's what it is. I bet this is going to cost more that a grand

    Re: Yayayayayayaya......broken

Check ou the axels. Same thing happened to may A4 last year i raised the car up and what do you know my drivers side axle was hanging. All the bolts were missing, i got new bolts pot lock tight and today the car is still fine. If this is not the case than you are in for some fun and it will cost you more than $1000 more like close to 2k.

Put the car in 1st gear and start the car see if it will move if nothing happent it's your dual mass flywheel for sure. If the pressure plate was bad you wouldnt be able the shift with the car on just with the car off.

I would definitely take it to matrix in Portland.

There are a few shops in Eugene, but I am not sure how experienced they are.

This happened to me as well, crazy that it's a somewhat common problem! Mine magically popped off and all 6 bolts that hold that half-shaft to the flang were perfectly intact and nothing else was broken.

Do it yourself, you may not even need a new axle and if you do it's $150 max-ish. With the car on the ground loosen the 17mm hex bolt in the center of your wheel. Jack the car up and take off the wheel. Take out the 17mm bolt you loosened. Put the car on jackstands and put the jack under the hub and jack the hub up to about where it would be normally with the wheel on the ground, and turn your wheels left (cause yours is the front passenger). With it in this position you can wiggle and pull the axle out of the hub and out underneath the car. Pull towards the other side of the car. This is all assuming you do infact need a new axle. Do the exact reverse to install the new axle, just remember to load the inside CV joint with grease. Also, clean the surface that you're sticking the new gasket on (I didn't and it was a HUGE pain to try to line it up when it lost it's tack. Also gasket glue helped keep it in place the second time:)). Make sure to clean the bolts and threaded holes in the flange thoroughly with parts cleaner and use some loctite or else this can happen again. You may want to replace the bolts anyways because I hear that they're one-time use stretch bolts (I reused mine though and have not had any problems.) To re-tighten the axle to flange bolts I had to have two people and lots of extensions to get at them. Make sure the bit is seated well in the bolts though.

If you don't have to replace the axle, then all you have to do is the last part and re-bolt the axle to the flange. Either way an easy DIY and will save you at least a couple hundred!

Need more details with pics, search then ask me if you can't find the DIY's.
