I had to get my oil changed today. So I went into a "TOTAL Service Center"

I told the guy I wanted the Total 9000 Synthetic ,no problem, then he went on his own and got an oil filter and he drained the oil, replaced the filter blah blah blah..

after everything was done, i asked to see the box of the oil filter, and it was a genuine vw/audi filter but I still took down the part #

    056 115 561 G

I put this in ETKA, and its not exactly showing for any B6 A4, its showing for the old audi 80's and 90's...

what should i do? the car seems to be running fine, and i watched him install the filter, it went in properly as if it was for the B6 A4's..

    Re: Oil filter

I'd go back and have it changed.

this is for an older vw 1.8, NON turbo.

the flow rates, and pressure could be off.

make them change it for free. and WORST case, you spend what, like $10 and get piece of mind.

I just looked at this filter, and the one that should be in your car... The size is pretty different. This one is smaller than the one that you want... Its prob aout 15-20% smaller.

FWIW... The one that you got:
    ""VW/Audi Applications:
    Coupe thru 1/87
    Coupe Q
    Cabriolet
    Golf 1.8 USA
    Golf 1.8 Mexico
    Golf 2.0 Mexico
    Golf 2.0 Mexico
    Jetta 1.8 USA
    Jetta 1.8 Mexico
    Jetta 2.0 Mexico
    Jetta 2.0 Mexico
    Passat 2.0
    100 thru '91
    100 Q thru '91
    4000 (4)
    4000 (5)
    4000 Q
    5000
    5000 Q
    80 thru '90
    90 '88' (4 Cyl.)
    90 Q '90 thru '92"

    Re: Oil filter

nope i got it from a different database...

umm, try going to mann, or mahle's website, look up your car, and print out what the filter part number should be.

FWIW, you can try going back, have them run your VIN, and that will tell them for sure what to use. I think the tech just looked at the car, it said audi/vw 1.8, and they failed to notice the turbo part.
