Ok so I hear people talking about how their cigarette lighter thing hides and appears like with the push of a button.. why is mine just an average one? did it come as a package? or an option?? just curious

Strange my 2002 has the "Bond" lighter. Once when I got a B7 loaner I noticed the "exposed" lighter and thought it was B7 money saving/cost cutting... hmmm not so sure now when Audi made the change. I know other little caveats like the 3rd interior motion detection alarm on/off switch in the driver's side map pocket next to the trunk unlock switch.

They started to put the regular style cig lighters around 2004-2004.5. When I went to test drive cars back in Summer '04, the '04 A4 had the regular style as does my '05.

Really...now that is weird. My '05 has the regular style lighter and the '04s I've driven all had the regular style ones.

Maybe they had some left over where they were assembling your car and put it in? Are you the original owner?

im the 2nd owner, the 1st was an older lady I doubt she modded it.

ive noticed that they just use whatever parts they can find on my car though. the tranny fill and drain plugs are the weird 12 socket bolt thing, the shifter is not perforated like the USP's should be, the sun visors are in french, and the trim is fish scale versus the sort of "lattice" style it should be.

Hahaha...yeah she probably didn't mod it. Ah, so you're the one that has the 12 point bolt on the tranny fill/drain. Your car is definitely a special one

i have a regular one but i need a bond one because whenever my girlfriend is in the car she always plays with the damn lighter pushing it & lighting it and whatnot.

now if it was hidden, i bet she'd forget about it!

I had an 02 (my sisters now) and it has the bond style one. Now I have an 04 with the regular now. I did like my bond style one over the regular one, but it peeled very easily.

Yeah, 2004.5+ had the fixed style. So if your car is a USP or has factory painted lowers, you should have a fixed lighter.

It must be part of some package. But as far as I know every USP and S4 has the fixed lighter. My '03 Sport has the bond lighter.

USP was pretty much all optioned car. it came one way. you cant add or take away anything except maybe sat radio.. i know that the USPs actually lost some features over the sports and premiums like dual power seats, heated seats and a few other things

I know the cold weather package was optional. Have also seen some single DIN USPs. No other variations come to mind though.

IIRC, 1.8Ts never had dual power seats until the Special Edition 1.8Ts came out at the end of the B6 cycle.

Single DINs are FWD CVTs. I had a CVT loaner once, single DIN radio. I was like WTF when I got in the car and realized what it was.

I put new batteries in, cleaned the contacts, put in a little mag lite bulb but couldn't get it to work. My daughter proceded to lose it a short time later. Anyone heard of those? I'd love to find another one.
