    AEB intake manifold vacuum port

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys Im about to install my AEB intake manifold and I noticed that it has an extra vacuum port on the far side of the manifold close to the fire wall. It is in the exact same place as the other port closest to us in the picture just on the other side.

My question is, can I use that port to install my boost gauge? I was just going to plug it, but instead of teeing off an old vacuum line I could just use that port for the gauge.

let me know what you guys think

    thanks

sure you can use that one. Just make sure you plug which ever one you don't use.

    Sweet man

But naw this manifold has an extra port that my AMB doesnt have. so instead of using a TEE fitting that comes with the boost gauge I was going to just go right into the extra port. When I thought about it in my head it all made sense just asking you guys just to make sure.

that port is for the fpr on a b5 if you cared ha. But yeah your thinking correct with what you want to do.

    Sweet thanks guys.

Ya exactly I was thinking that It would make it so much cleaner looking then having the T fitting.

and thanks for the info on the FPR bud

Re: AEB intake manifold vacuum port

Just a warning for you since this seems to be something not everyone knows about. The AEB intake manifold will put your throttle body in a different position vs where your B6 manifold puts it. The AEB manifold points the TB at a downward angle(around 45 degs) while the B6 is much closer to being horizontal. Just ran into this issue this week when trying to fit a B6 ER comp kit to an AEB intake manifold that was put into Jakes Dads B6. After looking at many pics and looking at the 2 manifolds side by side I was able to figure out that the 2 manifolds just put the TB at different angles which is why the B5 and B6 cold side IC pipes for the ER kits look completely different.

So for those B6 owners that plan on throwing in a AEB intake manifold and are running a FMIC kit, expect to make changes to the cold side pipe. For those that are running ER kits, I have already talked to Fred at ER and I am going to try test fitting a B5 cold side pipe onto a B6 with a AEB intake manifold to see if it is a direct fit.

    Pics showing the difference.

When trying to install the upper coldside pipe of the ER kit the correct way on the AEB intake manifold the tube ends up going right into the frame rail, twisting it so that it can go over the frame rail and more toward the head light then puts it so that sits at a 45 deg angle where it meets up to the lower pipe instead of butting right up against it like showin in the picture.

thanks mike. Visually i would never have guessed.

OP, is that manifold painted or powdercoated?

Ya wow Mike thanks alot, I would have figured that one out the hard way.

Yep the manifold is powdercoated wrinkle black.
