Good spot for new family? House price go from 600k- as much as you want.
Schools for my son - Vancouver West Public Schools, or private schools.
Cost of living - double - triple the price in LV
    Weather - You'll love it
Jobs - Depends on what, but no matter how much you earn, tax will rape you.

    Re: Vancouver stand up!

I like visiting vegas, 5-6 days at a time, but man I cannot wait to get home after the 5th day. It's a giant themepark in my eyes, great fun for an acute amount of time but not a place to raise a family, in my humble opinion.

My friend moved to Vegas for 4 years and headed a small hotel. He made a ton of money but has moved back now to get married and have a family.

    Re: Vancouver stand up!

just looking for a change... i've been in San Diego California allll my life. moved to las vegas in 06 and was just blessed with a handsome baby boy back in Oct. Las vegas would not be my ideal place to settle down or raise a family... If i were to make a move i want it to be fun, exciting, and a bit of a challenge! Who has moved to Vancouver to set up shop? anyone start a business there?! start from scratch?! I started from scratch when i moved to Vegas and feel i've made alot of progress in the 2.5 years i've been here.(compared to California)

What would be a good bank roll to move out there with?! 10-15k USD?!?Probably would end up renting a house or apartment for a year or two... whats the current rate on renting a house or apartment in a GOOD family community? Im pretty much a city guy and wouldnt mind being far away from all the crazy. (not too far)

Keep all the input coming! thanks guys

    thanks,
First what do you do for work? Where you work can really affect where you want to live. The GVRD (Greater Vancouver Regional District) is made up of a number of cities and districts.
You can live in Vancouver , North & West Van , Burnaby , Coquitlam , New Westminster (my fave but I'm biased) Richmond , Port Moody , Port Coquitlam , Mission , Maple Ridge , Langly , Delta , Surrey ect.......
Are you renting or buying??? House or Condo???
For fun we have , skiing 3 local ski hills + Whistler , parks , hiking , saltwater fishing , Restaurants , Brew pubs. We're a couple of hours from the Okanagan (our wine country) and Seattle.
As for schools , no kids myself so I can't really help you there. I haven't heard of any really bad schools and as far as gang activity go's it's a drop in the bucket compared to down south. I've lived here since I was 5 yrs old , I love to travel but I always am happy to come home and would never live anywhere else.

    thanks,
I would suggest living in Vancouver West end, near UBC area (not the same as West Vancouver). However, a decent house for a family of 4 in this area cost 700k plus. If you want to rent, it is around 2000 plus

This area also have good school sector (both Public and Private).

I was raised in this area and would not want to move anywhere else. (MAYBE white rock for a change)
