do you have to carry around 2 key thing-a-ma-jigs? (audi key remote + viper remote)? that would be a bitch... personally it would be nice to get the viper incorporated into the audi key

i have the autopage remote start on my car, when i forst got it it was fine, then something hapened with the ecu and the remote start box, that i guess wont let it over ride, adn i never really bothered to get it fixed, but basically every time i would turn the car on via remote start, where it would display the date it just said safe, then the car would crank for a second, then cut power. and for u to turn the key over

Re: any1 did an autostart on ur a4??

Geoffafa - Your problem is most likely the placement of the "ring" around the ignition cylinder for your bypass module. If the audio shop told you that there was a problem with your ECU blah blah blah that is BS!!! They just didnt want to fix it. Let me expand a little. You have a spare key or an uncut programmed key to your vehicle in a security bypass module. This module reads the resistance in the chip inside the key. It then transmits it through a "ring" that gets put around your ignition cylinder. When the car sees the ignition wire energized it sends this resistance through the ring and fools your car into thinking that there is a key in the ignition. So basically the ring is out of placed (the should have wire tied or glued it so it will not move) the ring is pinched or broken, or the bypass module is bad. They are basically giving you a load of BS and blaming it on your car because they do not want to work on it. If you want or need any more help PM me or email me at [email protected] and I will be happy to help you out in whatever way I can.

Sanjman - There are some remote starts where you can incorporate them into your factory key fab. This is a harder install for the shop and will probably charge you a little more. The only real problem with this is that you are limited to the range of the factory key fab. Which actually my key fab for my audi is pretty good...MUCH BETTER THEN MOST

Re: any1 did an autostart on ur a4??

The other night after posting on this thread I did a little bit of researching. I found a remote start module and security bypass module that will use the factory remote. I am going to purchase this soon. Would any one be interested in a DIY thread on this???

    YES-
infact any more information you can provide about the remote start install would be fabulous. Brands? Anything? A lot of people are afraid of the electrical systems. So most of the threads that are found- say DONT DO IT!
Im a comp guy, and an electrical guy. "Electrical" Problems don't+ bother me. A SHORT bothers me.

I have been searching the threads, people rely too much on "Google it" "search the forum". I understand things are repeated a lot- but if there were a sticky.. or something similar.. it wouldn't be an issue. Knowing where to search, or what key words to search for is ridiculous.

I have a Viper 5901 installed in my B7 A4 and works great. No problems yet for 3 months. Also like the chirp better than the wimpy OEM chirp.

I got a great deal at Dealer Cost Car Audio
