Re: Just finish DIY the aluminum trunk strip

How did you break the clip? If you were more careful do you think you could have removed it w/o breaking the clip (obviously you didn't try to break the clip... just wondering if with more care you could have done it w/o breaking a clip). How does it fit with the broken clip? From the pictures it still looks pretty good.

Re: Just finish DIY the aluminum trunk strip

Well I took the strip and it was find. For some idiotic reason, I thought one of the clip was bended and decide to try and bend it back to it's original way. I put too much thumb strength and broke it.

On my black car, the silver strip actually looks pretty good. I need some contrast for the rear.

On a silver car, I can't say the pics are too close.

    Cloth tape.
Based on the pictures it looks pretty good. However, won't the cloth tape absorb moisture and fade quickly in a short amount of time? (When I hear cloth tape I think of hockey tape which is pretty damn absorbent)

Why wouldn't you just plasti-dip this? Its rediculously easy. Hell, you don't even have to sand if you don't feel like it.

Re: Just finish DIY the aluminum trunk strip

Whats the link to this DIY anyways? I know it's pretty simple and you just kinda pry it off, but i wouldn't mind seeing what the underside looks like so i can avoid breaking clips.
