so im kinda stumped. i put on a new timing belt kit last weekend and since my coolant gauge never worked i made sure i put the thermostat in. and it still did not work. so then yesterday my coolant temp sensor came in and i put that in and what do you know my gauge still does not work right. it seams every time i cold start my car the coolant gauge will work untill it gets to the normal temp and then it will just drop all the way back to the cool side. my oil temp is up around 200F and the heater still blows hotter then hell so i dont think its the Tstat andi made sure that the sensor is pluged in good. so what the hells going o guys? bad brand new sensor?

odd.. Do you have 2 coolant temp sensors in your car? Like the atw motor has on the coolant flange on the head and the lower rad pipe? If so did you replace both?

    ^^^ Good question.

It could also be a broken connection somewhere. Seeing as something at least registers on your cluster, I'm fairly certain the fault isn't there.

Well I was referring to the coolant flange on the back of the head right behind the valve cover. No jacking of the car needed for that.

Well, first go check to make sure that it is in fact there. Second pull it out, what color is it? Green or blue? ECS Tuning has them listed on there site as either a green or blue sensor.

like 10-12 from the bottom. I am going to take a stab here and say the the sensor out of the lower rad pipe is the same as the one in the coolant flange on the head, not positive though seeing my car is a 2000.
