    RS4 Tubi Exhaust

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have the opportunity to purchase a slightly used Tubi exhaust for $1,500. I am worried about this being too loud as I sometimes have clients in my car. All of the videos I have seen are with high RPM revs...anyone know if this is a somewhat civilized sound with the windows up and driving in the 2 to 5k RPM range? Also - comments on pricing are appreciated....

    Re: RS4 Tubi Exhaust

I don't have any experience with the tubi, but they are known for being loud......

The best thing to do to make the exhaust louder but keep the OEM tone, get an ITG drop-in filter and the H-pipe from ECS tuning.... It's pretty much a louder version of the OEM exhaust for around $400!

Thanks for the suggestion. Can anyone else weigh in on the H-Pipe vs. Tubi discussion? I wasn't even really looking for an exhaust at this point but was given the opportunity to purchase the Tubi...pricing relative to retail almost seems too good to pass.

If I had the chance to get a Tubi I would almost definately do it. There are quieter exhausts out there but none of them sound like a Tubi.

Tubi is a gerat exhaust but it's not for the faint of heart. Would I rock it. In a heartbeat. Is it going to bother your clients. Well, it depends on your clients. I'm gonna say yes if they like civility. Is that even a word?

I have no problem with it being loud...its actually what I prefer when I'm on the throttle...but I dont want it to be obnoxious if I'm coasting at 3k rpm having a conversation....I guess I wont know for sure unless I get it.

Why are you selling your Tubi? How would an exchange work exactly? PM me to discuss...

Also - Does Tubi have different fit-ups or are they the same?

    Re: RS4 Tubi Exhaust

Obvious thought is that you need a ride in the same setup, but then again do you even know any RS4s near you, let alone one with a Tubi?

Perhaps a Tubi could be very different, but I have a full Milltek system, downpipes, no flaps or resonators, but still, it would be almost possible, with a light foot and keeping above 2k rpm all the time, for me to not draw too much attention to a conservative passenger. Highway cruising is very very quiet, unbelievably so. 8000rpm is music.

I say skip if people think Tubi is louder than Milltek, and stick with the adequate stock system. I shake the house on a cold start.

I just had my tubi installed over the weekend (to my existing ECS H-Pipe) and I was blown away! It is very quiet at idle, but once you get on it, it sounds just amazing - a mix of muscle car burble and exotic whale. It's also not irritating at all on the highway. It may be the best exhaust set-up I have ever owned (and I've had 6 exhausts on 4 Ferraris over the past 10 years.) The ECS H-pipe is great from a weight savings perspective, but by itself didn't make a tone of difference (a little with the sport button in.) With the Tubi, it is just heavenly!

FWIW, I have the ECS H pipe, deflapped, and it sounds great, the way it should from the factory. Tubi is on a totally different scale of loud. Do I love it? Hell yes! Also take into consideration you will lose the great looks of the oval tips. I would suggest getting a valved Milltek, that way you can use the S button to quell the sound or unleash it, yet while crusing it still retains the quiet OEM ride. Until you get on it of course!

Or make it sound even better and use an X-Pipe instead of a boring H-Pipe ( :) ). Of course always delete the centre resonator.

Here is what I did. After the Down pipes got gutted there was no reason to keep the exhaust stock anymore. So we ordered the "long" version of the Magnaflow X-Pipe for 2.5" and installed the X-pipe directly after teh down pipes. You can push the flexible area of the down pipes inwards a little. That way you do not need any connecting pipe you can pretty much weld it directly behind the connecting flange. From there we ran straight pipe into the original mufflers. There is a slight curve, but not much until it connects. Then I deflapped the car and this is how it sounds now. Scroll to 6:15 for a WOT in 2nd gear.

You can order a Tubi now with either oval or 4 tips (either in black or chrome.) I went for the 4 tip because I think it looks trick (nobody is going to mistake these unequal length cannons for an S4). There are also two versions of the Tubi the standard and the Rumore (race car loud.) I just got the standard one and it is perfect. While I am used to some pretty loud exhausts, this one is still quite tame until you get on it.

All Applications for the RS4 are 2.5" through and through. I think it would fit. Placement might be and issue. I wanted mine as close as possible to the headers (that meant right after the down pipes).

If I'm correct the tubi rumore also use the stock resonator right? And whats the differance in the mufflers between the standard and the rumore?

They are both just tailpipes. I believe the rumore is just more direct with less baffling, but you can replace the center resonators with a straight , X or H pipe with either set.

Ya but I'm pretty sure it sounds a bit better with the resonator. Speaking of resonators does anyone know if a b7 s4 uses the same resonator as the rs4?

If you're going to go with the loud/ race version, not sure why you'd be worried about a resonator to quiet it down - seems to me, if noise is a concern, better off to go with the quiter/ standard version and ditch the resonators for some weight savings - having moved them in my basement, they are not light!

I didn't say anything about me being worried about how loud my car would be haha. I want loud, as loud as possible. Which is why I would get the rumore plus keep the resonator for better sound, makes sense to me. Too bad I'm no where near getting a rs4 yet, but I'll be picking up a 06 s4 this year. Thats why I'm wondering if the s4 has the same resonator as the rs4 cause if it does i don't see why a tubi system wouldn't work on a s4. Besides the fact thats the exhaust it totally different from the cats up(not back). With headers and hi flow cats a tubi would sound amazing on a s4. I'll be the first to try, unless somebody else already has???

Don't know how much the Capristo is, but the Tubi is around $3,500.
