There's a seller on ebay that sells the bar and tool for $75. I think with free shipping!

Re: Cheapest place to buy Cam Lock Bar???

Yea I just would rather buy it, will be pulling the head a bunch and experimenting with cams and all. On Ebay the best I saw was $75 plus $15 for shipping, so I guess $100 shipped isn't too bad. Thanks guys

No worries! Just thought you may be doing a TB job and didn't want to bear the cost of the bar.

    ^^^ looks nice.

I have the ECS bar and it's adjustable. Maybe to fit the 12v 2.8, 30v 2.8 and our 2.7?

I hate to be that guy, but the bar is actually not needed. I have done the timing belt job on the 2.7/2.8 several times and have not used it once. No issues. I just set the engine at TDC and mark the positions of each cam and the crank just in case they were to move, but they didn't/won't.

    Just my .02.

I have never done a timing belt on an Audi but I have done many other timing belts and never once used any type of locking tool...

BUT, this is insurance if you fee nervous. Just line up the cams and crank and make sure nothing moves. It's not going to just break loose, you're gonna have actually turn the cams or crank to screw it up. Bottom line, I would rent the MF'er if you do it once...buy it if you REALLY need it but this can be done without the tool I'm 100% sure.
