Got Brakes done, think somethings wrong.

    Hey guys,

    i got this brake set...

    http://www.awe-tuning.com/pages/shar...kes&IL=a4combo

My stupid mech. said that the brake lines dident fit when he put them on. So he used oem lines. I feel like...when i push the brake the initial braking response is there, (and better than stock) but then as i continue to push in the brake closer to the floor the response stays the same. Basicly When the brake is pushed 1/3 of the way in...it has the same brakeing power as when i put full pressure on the pedal with my foot. I feel almost as if (and have felt it a little) that...if i needed to have an emergency stop the brakes would take to long to stop. Any sugestions?

stainless lines and a good fluid usually solves the mushy pedal feel problem

Maybe the pads just need to be broken in a little to be able to have a semi-coarse groove on the rotor. Just a thought.

Id have him double check the brake lines again, they should fit, unless they sent you the wrong lines for that B5.....Hmm

Maby the pads need to break in. hmm.. is that standard procedure? Breaking them in? Before the optimal performance is seen?

Double check to see that your mechanic bled your brakes.

or find a technician, and not a parts slinging mechanic.

I haven't used those pads, so I'm not entirely sure how to respond, BUT it sounds like there's still air in the hydraulic brake system.

The break in period for brake pads depends on the compound, but basically, if it doesn't feel like it's perfect a week after the install. Go back and ask WTF is wrong.

Can anyone tell me if this could just be the way that the pads and rotors perform? I dont want to go back to the shop and have him find that there was no air in the lines, the guy dont like me already and hes a family friend.

Oh, and after the car is warmed up. Should i be able to put the brake pedal to the floor during or not during breaking? Cause theres no way its anywhere near the floor as of right now.

Re: Got Brakes done, think somethings wrong.

the car shpuld stop pretty quick, the mintex really bite in pretty well. Not for track conditions but for daily driving they bite enough to get the car to dive quite a bit. I think it needs to be re-bled. sound like a spongy pedal while the pedal should be pretty responsive and stop harder the further you push it
