    Uh... See Through Tires...

Michelin has developed a new airless tire that never goes flat.

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tires.

This is what great R&D will do, and just think of the impact on existing technology: A. no more air valves…
    B. no more air compressors at gas stations…
    C. no more repair kits…
    D. no more flats…
Scroll down & see. These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin.

Well heres my say on them....WTF... lol i would like to see an actual video test of these..

See how they're tested on a B6? Yeah, well the B6 was brand new when this was first released.

    Re: Uh... See Through Tires...

This is old news is it not? I vaguely remember reading this article years ago i think. At that time I believe that these tires were prototypes. And i'm sure if these things were ever to make it production a sidewall would be put on it or something cuz ya i agree if left like that it looks uglyyyyyyyy. Great ieda tho. However i'd be interested to see the performance levels that these tires can put out compared to say regular tires.

    Re: Uh... See Through Tires...

There is no sidewall as Michelin wanted to demonstrate the idea, otherwise, if there was a sidewall, you'd get skeptics and critics saying this and that as they wouldn't be able to see the thing work as described.

If the product was ever built for consumer use, it would have a sidewall and that would help stiffen the tire itself as without it, it's fairly "soft" as mentioned by Michelin.

I wondered the same thing... but I imagine the same way the current ones work. Stiffer sidewalls (or in this case, stiffer... uhh, spokey things?), and more risk to the wheels.
