I would like to beat a....

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
okay so theres plenty "ballers" around here that have challenger r/t's on like 24's and ive been getting spanked all day long and its starting to make me sad haha

what would i need to potentially keep up with them or beat them?

i currently have 2.5 downpipe going into quad exhuast all straight piped, a diverter valve and thats about all when it comes to performance i dont want to get huge numbers out of my car seeing that it is my daily, but ill prolly be chipping it in the near future and seeing what kinda power i put down...

    thanks!

I wish I had people to run against...it's so damn snowy here, no one wants to drive faster than 50mph...

Those challengers are pretty fast and you'll prolly need BT to take those out...I have stage 1+ and it can't beat jack...

AGREED! i have a fully done 1+ and i swear some minivans can walk me... it depends, i can get a really good launch now with the clutch and diff but it really pulls good on the highway at high speed plus with all ive done its more stable than most cars at 60mph

OP, if they are r/t challengers, you need prolly $10k for BT, suspension, clutch, FMIC, exhaust, etc to take out those bad boys

Instead of your fancy exhaust, you should have chipped it in the first place. That will make a difference, enough to beat the Charger, I don't know.

a v6 charger is easy to beat. even the HO. if you are cooking through traffic, you should be able to out manuver most cars....

he is pretty much stock so he has a long ways to go. he needs to get flashed so he can take out a honda civic first

i have every mod a 1+ can have and i have beat quite a few reputable cars like the honda oddessy, toyota prius, accord (4 banger of course)

The Charger R/T puts out 340 horse with a 4,100 lb curb weight. Without factoring in anything else, if you were putting down 340, you'd be about 7/10ths of a second quicker in the quarter. Better off starting with an RS and going from there. Cause if they have any Hp mods with the R/T, even a BAT is gonna be iffy. But if you want to go "apples to apples". You'd then be racing a Charger SRT-8.

You're probably going to have to go BT. I'm thinking about a GT30R or even a GT35r if you want a ton of power. A GT28r may be able to do it but I'm not 100% sure. Then once you get into boost you should fly :)

I'd come out and spank them for you if I could :)

I saw a turbocharged neon at a track constantly running high 13's. I think it was completely stock too. Gaawwd, I just hate the look of those neons It reminds of an overweight fly for some reason.

lol so true. On the bright side you take any those fools on a nice icy and winedy road you'll win

Seriously though, r/ts make 340 hp stock and they're RWD. We make 170 and we're AWD. You'll def have to go BT to have any sort of chance

I might get flammed for this but its the truth...

If you want to be able to beat a 340hp stock car then ur driving the wrong vehicle. I am not saying it isn't possible but the amount of money that you would dump into your a4 to try and beat a stock car with that much hp from the factory would be ridiculous. PM Maverick (Max) and you will see what I mean.

I know how you feel tho...one of my buddies has a 02 Volvo S60R and those are fast. My other buddy has an 06 Chevy Trailblazer SS and that thing hauls major ass, 400hp stock.

Don't get it twisted tho, I love my a4 and although our cars may not be as fast as these others, are cars still have an advantage over theirs'...german engineering.

Im sure there will be some people who disagree with me but in reality our cars were not made to compete with such competition.

Most of us mod our cars because we love Audi's not because we got spanked by a car with over 300hp from the factory.

The Charger R/T's are overrated... They're so heavy and what not that the 340 horses don't show through. My friend has one and it's actually a LOT slower than it should be.. We were on the highway and I felt like we should be going 140 or so and we were only at 110 and it was climbing SLOWLY. I think a k04 car could beat one.

I have been enjoying this thread simply because I can't get the visual of a Charger RT with 24s out of my head. What a disaster! With that said, you are trying to beat that car it's own game. It makes lots of power and torque but what should turn your frown upside down is:

RT = Pig, poor fit/finish, retro-styling (was cool 5 years ago), terrible handling/steering, terrible gas mileage (yes, it will go up again), god-awful bad weather performance.

A4 = German, contemporary syling, compotent out-of-the-box handling, awesome poor weather handling, descent gas mileage, world-class interior, global respect....

Go to a track event and see how many Chargers on 24s are carving up the twisties. I'd say you are pretty lucky indeed!

ah i get them on the launch (i got a nice clutch) gotta watch out for those soccer moms, if they wind that odessy out, they start pulling on you!

ive noticed a lot of cars pull slow after 100-120mpg... my audi really starts pulling good at 110 or so.... i rented a g37 a few weeks ago and it was fast up to 100 but after that it was dead! getting to 120 took forever!

i raced a guy with a srt neon a few months ago, i knew i would lose, we got the the next light and he was talking shit, i just looked over at his GF and said, dont you think you would look a lot sexier getting out of that Neon and into this Audi? she smiled and nodded at me. he told me to eff myself and peeled out haha!

    ^^ Well said.

Don't get me wrong I love muscle cars but that's all they are performance wise is muscle. No agility.

I'm not a tuner but if you really want to pull these guys you've gotta look into a few things:

Clutch - You need as much launch advantage as possible
Turbo/software upgrade - The boost is where you'll pull em'.

But not to worry, the twisties is where you'll always take em! What real driving really matters.

thanks, the clutch does amazing things for helping you get ahead on a launch, rsx-s can catch me on a straight line but i smoke them so bad off line its hard for them to catch up...

and you gotta know your powerband and keep the car in it. too many people with 1+ try to wind it out to redline, much better off to shift at 5k and get back in the boost......

i walked a gto and 350z in traffic just because they cant even remotely hang with me when it comes to throwing the car around and squeezing it in tight places between the quattro, diff, coilovers and nice new tires, it handles like a go kart now!
i was suprised the 350z was barely just barely pulling on me on the straights and after 115 i started pulling on him and easily passed him

I've driven the R/T. They're decently quick for how big it is. The one I drove had a couple mods and was noticeably faster than my 1+. A B6 with a BT kit would probably pull on it though. The interior of those things is a joke. The one I drove only had 12k miles and the plastic trim was popping off all over the place.

Dude, my car will be able to kill pretty much anything for under $25k including the car, Id say thats a decent car to start with. Either way, you picked $4000 wheels, some would say thats rediculous too and you could put the $4k towards a better car. I don't get the thought process behind statements like that

I was refering to the kind of cars he mentioned not Honda, Acura, etc. But the funny thing is, is that once you beat all those cars you will want to step up to the big boys (M5, Stang, Vette, Porsche (no not a boxster), SRT8) Also if I remember correctly you do your own labor do you not? Well not everyone has the luxury of ripping their engine apart and being able to put it back together. I am not telling the OP to sell his car and start over but it just seems like some people are disappointed when they get their ass handed to them by a car that was meant to haul ass from the factory.

Everyone mods their cars differently. Some like show, some like go, some like both. I put expensive wheels on my ride because I learned the hard way that you get what you pay for. Of course it would be nice to have an A4 that could pull up next to a Z06, SRT8, etc and dust them but we all know the likely-hood of that happening is very slim unless your pockets are endless.

I was simply stating my opinion and your more than welcome to disagree. Just about every member here, including myself, wastes money on mods but like i said we do it for fun and because we love Audi. No hard feelings Clint just trying to help you better understand where I was coming from.

^^word to that! I like a little extra power and to put my own personal touch on a vehicle and get compliments on it. I take a lot of pride in my car and thats the difference. Some poeple can buy it, the genuine people, who do it for the pure enjoyment, want to build it themselves!

Oh and by the way...the chrome wheels are gone when winter breaks. New wheels will be here tomorrow! woot!

I completely agree with u guys that audi's have much more class than almost all of these cars and that modding is up to the "modder"

I would love to see audi make a car with a little more power that can compete with these american cars ... i know they make the s4 and rs4 but i'm saying like an a4 with 250 hp

    any takers ?

ok, a few beers in an 'old' guy talking here, but why do people care so much about "kills"?
My fat Avant is probably in the upper decile of A4's in terms of performance and won't embarrass itself against much on the road (note: there are many B6's on this forum that would destroy my car in a race, I'm not bragging here). But I drive it for me, not to beat out a Boxster, or "walk an RSX". For me its about the spool from 3500 to 6500 in third, fourth and sometimes fifth WOT that isn't against anyone else but just me and a nice bit of open road (preferably with some curves).
There will always be someone with a faster car that you. I've owned cars with power to weight ratios in GT3 territory and still not been top of the pile. Pop in a CD of your favorite tunes, go find an empty road and enjoy yourself - you have a well built, German sports sedan/wagon.
If you want to have one of the fastest, well built, German sports sedan/wagons, kiss another $20K goodbye...
