Does anyone know how to get the plexi glass off that covers the gauge cluster? I just got my Avant and it is really dirty back behind there, I was just wondering if it is easy to take off or if it is a pain in the a**...............Thanks guys

I havn't done this yet, but it can be done if you take your time. After the IC is removed, it is evident what needs to be done to remove the cluster face.

Yeah, removing the IC from the dash is required before the housing of the IC can be disassembled. Removal from the dash is easy, but requires caution, and previewing the service manual instructions is recommended first.

To remove the instrument cluster, there is a small plastic piece in between your + - buttons and check / service / odometer buttons. Before you attempt to remove it adjust your steering wheel at the lowest and furthest (pull) position. Gently pry it out with a covered flat head screw driver and slowly wiggle it out. After you have taken off this cover you will need to use a deep socket T20 / T25 / T30 torx bit (forget exactly which size) to remove two torx screws in there. Gently wiggle the instrument cluster after these two screws have been removed. You will know which way to wiggle once you play around with it. After it pops out, there are two wired sockets, one on each end of the i.c. that you will need to remove. The sockets are self locking and need to be approached with patience for removal or else you will snap the plastic. I think that's about it! The plexi-glass looks like it's held on with some sort of adhesive tape to the i.c.

    i don't think so.

I cleaned my IC a while back. Definitely worth the trouble.
Just use a microfiber towel so you don't get any lint fibers
in there. I also used a air compressor, which helped.
