I started out to replace the front passenger side window and on reassembly (2nd time) the window regulator self destructed. I've ordered a new window regulator (WR) but I have some concerns when I put it back together.
The WR looks pretty straightforward to replace and when you put the completed frame back in the door there are fixed points where it all attaches. Once the window frame is back in the door are there any points of adjustment? I did notice when installing the window to the WR, the WR plastic post could be positioned/aligned a 1/8-1/4" from center either way in the Window's plastic mount. When I replaced I positioned the new window mounts in the same positions, one was 1 tooth off center and the other was on center. Does the WR / Window mounting point play a role in how easy the window travels up and down ?
The first time I installed the window frame the window wouldn't go all the way to the top. It was like there was resistance, the sensor would stop it and return it to the down position. I removed the window frame and looked for anything that could have been causing the problem but couldn't find anything specific.
I reinstalled everthing but the door panel, just propped it up next to the door and connected electrical. Tested the window up/down same problem, new noises. I took it back apart and when removing the motor found the window regulator cable had one loop off and I could see in the WR the cable had self destructed.
So any tips on how to make sure the window / window frame are aligned correctly? Obviously something was wrong when I installed because the window wouldn't go up/down. Originally the WR worked so something I did messed it up.
