    Cross continent road trip, help and advice

    Hello all,

    I am in the planning stages of doing a trip from CT -> CA -> Denali Park,AK. My vehicle is a 2003 A4 1.8T w/sport package approximately 64K miles. Here are some of the recent things that have had to be changed;

    January 2008 complete clutch job
    November 2008 1 coil pack
    January 2009 1 coil pack
    March 2008 complete brake job rotors + pads

    Other than that the car runs beautifully, I plan on doing the other two coil packs, and having at least 4 with me along with spark plugs in the car. I don't have a spare so I am ordering that as well. My question is, how reliable would this car be to do this journey according to the different routes I have played around with the total round trip comes to 11,500 miles.

    I am going to be doing the following to prepare;
    -redline MTL manual transmission fluid
    - oil change

    What else should be done to fully prepare this car? Thank you for your help and advice.

    Id say keep some spare oil. You will most likely burn a bit of it off so you will need to top off. Good call on keeping 4 spare coil packs. Cant really think of anything else. I made a 1500 mile trip to Canada this past summer and had no issues. I know its nothing compared to what your going to be doing but reassuring nonetheless.

    Oh, did you have your timing belt and water pump replaced by any chance yet?

    Thanks for that, also I did a smaller trip to Florida and back last summer and the car performed flawlessly. Just want to make sure I have everything because I hear highway Alaska is not like the Jersey turnpike

    The alignment is on, as far as the timing belt and water pump the car has 68k miles and it hasn't been done should this be absolutely done before the trip?

    Doing more research I am also thinking of doing a seafoam treatment, any other ideas?

    Audi's recommended interval is later but to do it now is a piece of mind sort of thing.
