Need Advice On Cat Back

I have a Giac chipped S4 and I just got the check engine code for a bad cat. What is the most cost effective method for me to change both cat's and is it worth it to upgrade?

What are the best sites to find what I need as far as parts? The AWE system is way over my budget.

and theres no cats in them

so if you still wanted cats but want to stay reletivly inexpensive
JHM sells some pretty nice ones

but if money is not an issue

go ASP all the way

For example, I use the ASP DPs and the ASP cat back system and it works great. , they get sold seperatly, BUT on a budget get a good DP and then save for a good cat back system,( or a good used system) I have heard of people running Dp's with stock cat back and it worked goood, also you can cut your center res out on your stock cat back and gain a lil from it,

Ignore that...SSAC makes a turbo back, which does not have cats for $440 shipped.
It is the best bang for your buck but they are out of stock for 45 days.

Search for the thread regarding gutting your stock dp's which are known as "piggies" and then buy a slightly used cat back like mine

I've seen dyno graphs and people with 3inch dp's put down about 5-10 whp more than people with piggies so those 5-10 whp cost so much compared to piggies which can be done for close to nothing.

the 5-10 is worth it if you get the ssac downpipes and sell the catback or keep it

oh yeah man I def agree. What I was refering to was asp or apr dps which are just insane. What did you do to get them that cheap? Split the order?

The CEL for a bad cat is usually caused by your 02 sensor, not the cat itsself. If you want to get rid of the code then replace the 02's on the bank that supposedly has a bad cat. This has happened to me twice, and replacing an 02 fixed it both times. As far as DP's are concerned, if youre on a budget then piggies will give you a nice gain for very little money. If you cant do the work yourself then get a set of Vast's premade piggies. They include new rear cats and relocated 02 bungs so you dont have to mess with CEL eliminators that are known to fail.
