What's the average MPG you get in your A4?

I have been wondering what other B7 A4 owners are getting in their A4's.

In the city I have been averaging any where from 10MPG to 17MPG. I have added the Carbonio CAI and I thought it would help my MPG better but that may not be the case :D I do drive my car pretty hard because it's so much fun!

LOL, I'm 16 and all the cars my dad owns are exotics. But I can't get over having the turbo and intake. It's such a fun combo. And I do not race.

I don't think age has anything to do with this. I'm 17 and average about 22mpg in city driving.

My commute was recently altered where they shut down a highway to reconstruct it. It restricted me to pure city and stop and go.

My mileage with usual commute of 4 miles city, 6 highway = 21-23mpg

Mileage with city moderate stop-n-go or sitting in traffic = 17-20mpg. I am one of those guys that tracks mileage and does calculations old school (not the car's computer) and have been doing since I got the car.

My conclusion is that city driving really drops your fuel economy especially if you are just sitting there. You an burn some decent fuel just idling for minutes at a time.

I enjoy the car and drive somewhat spirited while not driving over the speed limit (near death car crash 5 months ago). I think air pressure and heads up driving are the key.

Depending on how much my foot is in the injectors, my `08 A4 B7 6MT 3.2L tankfuls average between 18 and 25 mpg commuting and 25-31 mpg on road trips.

i've had the car for 3 months and about 4500 miles and i'm averaging about 26-27 mpg for a 55 mile round-trip commute. its about 25 miles country road and 30 miles highway.

Hmmm. You already have your answer. I get 0mpg (zero mpg) idling in Chicago traffic in the A4. ANY car gets 0mpg idling and doesn't do very well in stop and go crawling traffic and of course much worse when driven hard. Thank yourself for having a 4cyl rather than a V8 or you'd be looking at 5mpg or perhaps even gallons-per mile instead. Really, I've been getting 21-25mpg routinely in the city cycle this winter and 31-34mpg highway with an average cruise speed ~70mph.

The more you idle and then stomp on the gas to move, the worse your mileage even in the most thrifty of vehicles. I can get my motorcycles to get 15mpg too if I drive like an idiot, but I don't like to look like an idiot.

How do you even get 10mpg on the streets? There are times when I'll shift around 5k for a good couple of miles and I still get around 14-15mpg. Keep it reasonable on the streets.

On a random note, speaking of slow/dumb drivers, I live in probably what can be considered the hybrid vehicle capital of the US. There's nothing I hate more than a Prius driver, and here's why.

They either:
a) drive slow as hell and get in the way, while about 75-80% of the time being totally oblivious to what's going on around them. This is because they are avidly watching the ridiculous little power display/graphic that shows whether or not you're charging the battery and/or using gas instead of focusing on the task at hand - DRIVING.

b) speed ridiculously fast and tailgate, at which point they've totally defeated the purpose of getting a Prius in the first place and obviously have no taste nor common sense. As most probably know, the only way to really take advantage of the hybrid technology is to drive like you were born before 1940 or are from the Seattle area.

Either way, they frustrate me to no end!

Absolutely agree. The Prius owners that think they're saving the planet are the worst. Do some research on what it takes to mine for the batteries and you'll find out that your precious prius has the same carbon footprint as a land rover. Bunch of uneducated hippies.

And its easy to get 10mpg if you let it idle a lot.... the op lives in fl but in the north the average goes down sooo much from letting it warm up in the mornings....

it is about 95 percent women/girls, and it gets worse with certian ages. I really feel about twice as safe with a male driver unless hes gay....

going back to the mpg, i get about 6 to 12 miles a gallon on the streets and about 15 on the freeway. ha just joshin but really im about 19 in the streets but im 18 so that should say something. i drive equal or slower than the people around me mph wise but i get up to speed about twice as fast as anyone else. haha gotta love the pull

Completely forgot the purpose of this thread. I get about 20 mpg all around--about 345 miles on a tank.
