    Hey everyone,
i wanna get some brighter more blue purple light from my low beams. I have a 2000 A4 1.8T. I'm pretty sure that i have the one piece projector headlights. Anyone know where i can get some bright bulbs and how much they would cost?

    Thanks

    Re: Headlight Bulbs

you need an HID setup and I would say don't go over 8000k, best light output are 4300k and 6000k, and 8000k is pushing it but will give you blue lights for sure.

    Re: Headlight Bulbs

DO NOT get wild @$$ high K-value bulbs. Get some good euro-spec Phillips or whatever. Purple bulbs really suck, don't give good low-beam pattern or depth. Rice-@$$ purple really sux to drive, and to drive against. PERIOD.

    Re: Headlight Bulbs

since you have one piece lights, basically will cost how much you are willing to spend. Assuming your bulbs are H7, you can spend $70 shipped on a "cheap" kit or spend $300 on a good kit. Do some searching you will answer every possible question you could have. VVME is a cheaper kit, then you have more high end kits.

    Re: Headlight Bulbs

You have one peice projectors and just get the DDM tuning ones. They are US made w/lifetime warranty on bulbs and ballasts vs VVME which has 2 years and is an Overseas product. Plus if there is a defect, shipping cost should not be a nuisance. As for temp, I would not go beyong the 6000K personally. I have 55w 5000K on mine (Retro-Solution).

    Re: Headlight Bulbs

Thanks a lot for the advice. I think i will be going with the ddmtuning ones. Is there any way to get 55w ones vs 35w? Does it make sense to get the 55w ones?

And one last question, how hard is the installation?

    Thanks agaiin

    Re: Headlight Bulbs

dont go with 55 watt HID in the stock projectors. The chrome coating on the inside of the projectors is very sensitive to heat and 55 watt aftermarket HID bulbs get way too hot... you'd end up with probably less light output over time.

How much more light will i get from a 6000K or 8000K HID compared to my current stock projectors?

How come some people say that 55w is too much and others don't? I would like to go with the 55w, is it safe?

    Re: Headlight Bulbs

I have no issues with the 55w ballast and halogen housing (Valeo Ecode Halogen). It is the chrome housing that wil have a tendancy to not be able to handle the extra heat. Stock bulbs are 55w, and 35w HID will have a greater light output. 55w HID has a brighter output than the 35w.

So is it safe with my stock headlights?

    Re: Headlight Bulbs

^Yep. As long as they are halogen or xenon headlamps, there should be no issue. Chrome housing headlamps can melt due to the extra heat.
