With my string of unfortunate events my car decided the AC compressor should just seize up and die.

So if you have a used one please let me know

    Part is 8e0 260 805 bj

    Thanks

If you can't find used you can get a new one here for a good price.

    Ouch

I have one out of a '01 TT but it is not the same. The B6 compressor spins all the time and the clutch is internal whereas the '01 TT has a more traditional external electromagnetic clutch.

Not quite sure but can't you run a smaller belt in the meanwhile

You also don't want the system open.

Re: In need of an AC compressor ASAP

    Thanks for the links guys.

We are going to see if we can find a belt to use in the meantime to bypass the compressor until I find a used one or buy a new one.

You know... my wagon is really a lot of fun when it runs.

    Really!

    I know how you feel.

I was messing around with my car in the garage today (garage door open, obviously). Idle its loud and just off idle, as if I blip the throttle, the chatter goes away. However, if I hold it steady state at, lets say, 2000rpm it chatters too. I am 100% convinced the cam tensioner is failing to keep proper tension on the cam chain.

I've gone through the CCT issue too.

Car sounded like a diesel until it was replaced.

Now I am wondering what else needs to be checked in the AC system if I haven't charged it up in about 8 months.

It doesn't sound like a diesel. It sounds like a ticking time bomb. Sounds like an old 8V with loud lifters.

damn i wish i read that earlier. My system was discharged last year and I've been driving that way since. I guess I'll have to get a new compressor when i finally get around to fixing the condensor.

Re: In need of an AC compressor ASAP

Replaced the accessory belt with a shorter one to bypass the AC pulley and the car runs now so I have more time to find a replacement compressor.

A 6PK-1150 belt is what you need if you are interested in the bypass.

Re: In need of an AC compressor ASAP

I was stupid lazy to look at the sticker on my AC drier to get the last letter off of it and suffered through this summer as a result.

Just ordered the Discount AC version of the OE compressor and a new drier unit as going through the winter with fogged up windows isn't something I care to go through.

I'll report back to see if saving the $110 from not going OE was worth it.
