    Re: anyone running 18x7.5 wheels?

I used to but I don't have any good pictures to show how "skinny" they are.....on a 7.5" rim, a 235/40 tire is REALLY beefy

    on a 18x7.5

The Volks I just got are 18 by 7.5 with 235 tires and I think its just the right amount of rim protection.

By contrast my 18 rs4 reps are 8.5 running 235's. and are Just the right amount of stretch to maximize the tire.

lol, he will get what he wants.. If he wants to fill out and make it flush, well that is why they make spacers. I have a pic of my 7.5 wheels somewhere, ill dig it up.

    Re: anyone running 18x7.5 wheels?

Don't the skinnier wheels usually have a lower offset to have it stick out the right amount?

The 7.5's in my thread have a et30 and they sit just about flush with the fenders.

    Re: anyone running 18x7.5 wheels?

So you'll need a 5mm spacer to get the ET30 backset.

    Re: anyone running 18x7.5 wheels?

^^ your not doing it right. Yes it will be an et30 rim, but 18x7.5 et 30 and 18x8 et30 will fit completely different. The 18x8 rim will stick out 6mm more and will be in 6mm farther. Your 18x8.5 et35 will stick out 8mm farther then the 18x7.5 et 30.. He will need about 15mm spacer to get it somewhat flush.

    Re: anyone running 18x7.5 wheels?

    Re: anyone running 18x7.5 wheels?

^^ the "back spacing" as you call it is really the "offset".

edit: maybe this will help you out, should help you understand things a bit more.

so here is waht tire rack says for the 18x8.5
    Offset: 35mm

    Backspacing: 6.18"
    Bolt Pattern: 5-112

    and the 18x7.5
    Offset: 35mm

    Backspacing: 5.70"
    Bolt Pattern: 5-112

    Re: anyone running 18x7.5 wheels?

Yes, because one rim is 8.5" wide and the other 7.5" wide, which is why they are different. It is referring to your inner clearance, which changes with diff. width wheels and offsets. Obviously the 7.5 will have a bit more space since it is a skinnier rim. You can't "change the backspacing" of the rim without changing either the width or offset. I wouldn't pay attention to the "backspacing" simply because all you need to knwo is the width and offset. That will tell you exactly where the rim will sit.

    Make sense?
