Engine is still skipping and showing no codes injectors?

I just inStalled 8 new coil packs but the engine is still skipping and not showing any codes. Could it be the fuel injectors being clogged or the ecu . Have any of you guys had this problem?

I'd be surprised if it was a timing chain... if you had timing chain issues, you'd be in a bigger mess than you are. What are you using to check the codes?

Also, I remember reading about something like this at one point that ended up being an ECU, but I don't know if that's the case here.

When were the spark plugs changed last?

this could be from the fuel pump. the plugs or the MAF

I don't know if this will help you, but when my MAFS went bad, it threw a check engine light.

First thing is first......Any skipping, staggering, studering probs always change fuel filter first! 7 out of 10 is fuel filter. Then check spark on all cylinders and gaps. Next check fuel pressure at rail (S4 is common rail correct?). Beyond that I would start looking to CPU. MY $.02 ............P.S. I am, in no way, a mechanic.

Why do you say that? Early symptoms of the chain having too much slack/tensioners are exact symptoms of what he is describing. If the codes finally show up that he is getting misfires all in one bank then there is no doubt it is the chain.

Other than that, like justincredble said, check fuel related issues.

Don't here the characteristic chain chatter also it happens intermittantely like for about 50 to 100 miles. I'm going to change the filter first cause I haven't done it and it seems like a fuel issue. Thanks for the advice.

if its an intermintent problem its not a base engine concern. Its more likly a electrionic issue or a fuel filter or spark plug problem. how many miles

Check mvb 014 this is your misfire counter, blocks 015,016, will show indv. cyl. misfires. thats the first thing, Is this only underload? if so check plugs &or misfire counter. now if you think chains have jumped mvb 90-99 are cam timing look at mvb 90 display 3 & 4 gives cam shaft adj it will say KW which is crack shaft rotation in degrees. they should match! check that out & let us know.

last time it showed codes they were 14 and 15 mvb's that's why I changed out the remaining coil packs. The car has high miles so I guess I'm fortunate the chains are still good.

just remember, just because the coil packs are new they could be still failing. I would still go back to basics, look at what cyl. are missing, swap coils & plugs to see where it follows, move coil & plug of offending cyl. into different holes that are not misfiring like if cyl 1 misfires move coil to cyl 2 & plug to cyl 3. if misfire stays in 1 swap injectors. I have not seen bad injectors on these cars yet!

Latest update. Installed new coils and new fuel pump. Problem still exists. Next part to replace motor mounts. Car still has goood power but shakes excessively and now is kind of hard to shift. It has been showing upper engine mount solenoid short to plus codes for a while. unfortunately it takes 5 hours to change them according to Induktion motorsports. I purchased a beater Jetta Trek to drive around in cause the Audi has been letting me down. Its a shame that my Corrado is more reliable.
