So when doing brakes, just order rotors first, now I need some!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Found out after pulling off all 4 brakes that my rotors are too far gone to be turned, so now I need to order replacements TODAY and I need them asap, so knowing that the rotors on front are prone to warping from crappy rotors, what do you guys recommend for best:

    1. performance
    2. price

    Thanks,

id get slotted to help reduce fade and if you like bite, ferodo ds2500s.. very happy with the pads.. i had hawk ceramics but they faded pretty quickly and didnt bite that hard, the ferodos sink in and drag the car down like throwing out a boat anchor

AWE has or had recently some good deals on slotted rotor packages(DBA or Powerslot I think) with fluid, lines and your choice of pads(Hawk or Mintex). Some people such as myself have issues with squeakge from the Hawk pads.

Alright, well there is SP Performance, DBA and Zimmerman for slotted rotors. Check TireRack, Avalon, AWE and ECS for pricing

    SP Performance: http://www.sp-performance.com/

You can buy them from Avalon Motorsport : http://www.avalonmotorsports.com/

For our cars, they use Zimmermann front rotors and Brembo rear rotors.

Re: So when doing brakes, just order rotors first, now I need some!

When I recently replaced rotors I just went with the stock OEM blanks. They replaced drilled and slotted rotors and I really cannot tell a difference other than that the blanks are quieter. I decided to go with the blanks due to the simple fact that they brake better since there is more surface area than a slotted/drilled rotor. I have heard of others having issues with warping, pad deposits, etc. (including those of the previous owner of my car) but I have yet to see any problems with my OEM rotor and Hawk HPS pad combo.

I know some are going to argue my opinion that blanks brake better and that drilled/slotted discs are mainly for show but look at the rotors on an F1 car. They don't have any slots or holes in them and I'm certain they get much more abuse than any street will see.

If you want slotted, go with DBA. Otherwise, just get plain face OEM, Zimmermann or Brembo.
I have DBA's w/ Hawk HPS pads and it is an excellent combo.
Try buybrakes.com but good luck getting them in under a week...
