    Cost to CPO a b6/b7 S4?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello guys,

About to pull a trigger on a b7 s4 that is not certified, and I would like to know the price to have it done. I'm looking for actual dealer cost, as I am being told the lump price with dealer profit while being told I am getting it certified at cost.

Could anybody help? I would love to be a part of this community!

    Thanks!

    E

That is a tough question. In order to CPO a car it has to pass a checklist. Every car is different as to what it mat need in re-con to pass that list. For instance, one car may need a whole set of tires, brakes, detail, etc.. Another car may need nothing more than an inspection and a detail. So to put a general price on any car to CPO is impossible. I have noticed, most dealers are charging $3k for CPO. I would guess their cost is @ $2200. Hope that helps...

While this is true ^^; I believe the dealer actually has to pay something like 1,100-1,500 to Audi of America to obtain the Certification. The point of this being once CPO'd the warranty is good at all dealers, not just where you made the purchase.

    thanks for the info guys!

I was expecting around 2500, but I was hoping to get the cost assuming there are no other fee's besides just the inspection - no tires, brakes, etc...as I can get these things through work.

    any further information available?

are you buying from the dealer or are you buying elsewhere and want to take it to the dealer to certify? if the latter, i don't know if they will do that for you unless you bought the car from them.

    Re: Cost to CPO a b6/b7 S4?

Yeah, I've never heard of a dealer certifying a car at a customer's request, or a car being certified after it was purchased.

Usually a dealer decides if they can/want to certify it when they inventory it, and that's that.

You can get a warranty that's fairly equivalent to the CPO warranty, though.

To give you an idea, for a 36 month/36,000 mile warranty ($100 deductible) on my 2004 S4 MT6 with 48,000 miles, the dealership I work at would have to pay the warranty company $3,200. That's zero profit. So, expect to pay quite a bit. (The dealership's cost on a powertrain-only warranty, everything else the same, is $2,150)

looking to buy a car from a dealer, but its not yet certified -

at the moment, I am at the mercy of the dealer lumping all the costs in - if they don't budge, I plan to getting a loan from a credit union and low balling the price w/o certification

To get Audi CPO, you must buy from an Audi dealer. They would credit me $1700 if I "uncertified" my car before I bought it.

Audi charges its dealers $1700 just for the certificate. Any repairs, etc are above and beyond the certificate cost. On avg it costs dealer ~$3k to bring a car up to CPO standards.

    thanks for the responses guys!

I was assuming it would be under 2k, and I'll need to be with the dealer to determine what is in need to repair / replacement. My goal is to be under 2500 with the brokers fee, certification and miscellaneous repair.
