I installed sport shocks from a 99.5 about 5 months ago. Haven't had a problem since. I have a 2001 1.8tqms. The only thing I can think of is that the 01 has a k03s but the weight difference (if any at all, lol) is negligible.

I have an S4 suspension ready to go, but was told the spring rate was so much higher it would actually raise it. Any opinions on replacement springs for an A4 using the S4 shocks?

S4 dampers (struts/shocks) are the same as the Sport A4's, the difference is in the spring rates.

You can use any of the lowering springs from an A4 or an S4. The differences at that point are still spring rates, but the height will be near identical
