Anyone want to help me eliminate the PCV system in my '98 1.8T?

My spark plugs are getting fouled every 3K miles with some oil and I want to eliminate all possible causes. Since I've heard that the PCV system and check valves in the 1.8T engines are problematic, I am interested in elimininating the system and replacing it a catch can. Anyone ever done before this and is willing to help out? We can do it in my driveway in Daly City and go out for a few drinks afterwards.

Thanks guys, I'll tackle it this weekend and report back!
Edit: Damn, looked and it's $35 for that blockoff plate. It's just a small flat piece of metal with some screws! Reconsidering now and weighing pros/cons.

Excuse my newbie knowledge. I haven't looked at the instructions in detail but don't the 1.8T's come with an EGR valve and the SAI pump stock?
