I actually think it is a lot worse looking than the S5.

I don't think we've got anything to worry about. Audi will keep the final bodywork under wraps until the official announcement, at which time it will be a horny looking beast!

This really is just a test mule with RS5 running gear (maybe?) under the cloak of an S5 body with a RS5 front bumper (maybe?)

doesnt really look to much like an RS model. Would expect it to have some more aggressive features. Either way it sounded and looks good.

OMG it sounds amazing... grumbles so nicely. It I'm honest, I expected to her the revs rising more quickly when it looks like he's coming out of the corners.

I can't wait for Jeremy Clarkson to make fun of the fairy lamps and the gaping, flappy cheek looking things at the bottom :D And yeah, that driver has it spot-on as far as I can see!

There are no plans for the car to be sold in the US in MY 2010 or 2011. Possibly 2012.

I have heard some Audi higher-ups slip (when drunk) and say that it will have a bi-turbo V8, confirming that the car IS going to be produced... ...then again I was pretty drunk at the time, so I might have misheard.

I personally think that Audi needs to seriously consider where they want to go with the RS name, and if they DO decide to do it, they need to make the RS5 every bit as badass as the RS4; aka make it handbuilt, and widen the shit out of the car.

I have to agree with ^^^ Audi is also experimenting with a lightweight S5 with a 2.0T that will smoke the current V8. Reduce weight and turn up the boost, they may be on to something...

Word on the street, and as jonmiles stated the information comes from a audi source, is that the RS5 people are seeing videos of is simply a suspension test mule and that the production model will in fact have a bi-turbo V8. As for the people complaining about the lack of "aggressiveness" of the model, there have never really been any in the past. The S4 and RS4 bare a striking resemblance to each other aside from some larger gills, and I wouldn't expect to see any startling cosmetic differences between the S5 and RS5 either.

Why not up the boost on the new V6T, somehow I don't think you will see an S5 with a 4cyl turbo. Remember although we turn the boost up on these 2.0t motor Audi will want such a high safety margin that it will not be possible.

The best choices will be an updated V8 or a worked V6T.

if you look at the b5 and b7 rs4s vs the b5 and b7 s4s and you'd notice the rs4s have a wide body, unique panels throughout, and the rs4 also has the vents on the front bumper. side by side the difference is pretty striking actually. sure they're going to have similar looks because they're on the same chassis.. and the grills are the same size, just the rs4 has a mesh type grill..

Correct, but none of that makes the car strikingly different then the s4. It simply just accenuates what is already there. If you're going to tell me a b5 rs4 is sooo different from the s4 im gonna call you an idiot. If people are expecting the RS5 to be massively different then the S5, they need to rethink it.

other than every body panel being unique to the rs4 (besides the roof on both and front doors on the b7).. its not going to be radically different.. they can only change so much when its on the same chassis... common sense.. and the rs4 is about 1.5"-2" wider than the s4. definitely accentuates whats there, and nobody would mistake an s4 for an rs4.. at least people who somewhat know audis...

i bet the rs5 is going to change just a little bit, its still a test mule.. i know those wheels arent going to be the stockers.. and i'm sure the fenders are going to be wider.

park an s4 avant next to an rs4..

    or b7 rs4 to s4

i'll bet we'll see similar differences between the rs5 and s5. ~2" wider with flared fenders.

    +1

With the RS5 going head-to-head with the M3, the final design is a heavily guarded secret. They won't let any test mules out with final body's until very close to launch IMO
