wiper "smear campaign" can this be changed

Has there ever been any talk about the stupid mist mode the wipers have, let me explain:

-pull the arm for washer fluid
-after the arm is let go the wiper continue to wipe for a few more cycles and then stop, ALL IS NICE AND CLEAR.
-Then the cursed FINAL SMEAR WIPE comes to screw everything up!

Anyone fit a rlay or vag this so it stops after the initial few cycles?

(I think it is a conspiracy by the washer fluid conglomerates!!)

I love that extra wipe. It's class. I always forget I have it, and when I'm about to do a manual extra wipe to clear the last of the washer fluid, the automatic extra one kicks in and gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

While the first two wipes are still going if you do a manual wipe ( I think pushing down) it will xcl the 3rd delay wipe.

^^ yupp he's right.. while the wipers are doing their thing push it down quickly and ittl stop the delayed one!

i can say this much, here in Colorado in the winter the extra wipe is a PITA because in winter weather, we put magnesium chloride on the roads, which smears constantly ans is sticky as hell. by the time the last wipe comes, all it is doing is smearing that crap all over the place and forcing me to initiate another spray cycle, which of course initiates another smear wipe....and around and around we go....lol.

LOL!!! I feel the same way in Illinois! They salt so much you swear it's gravel!!! They cut back a little this year b/c of how much salt went up. Still annoying with that last one. I'll try to cancel it though, someone ^^^ said if you hit the lever if you remember it will cancel it.

I tried the lever thing today, if you hit it down as to initiate the single wipe, then the auto wiping of the spray cycle is stopped, but this is not ideal, I am going to go on a parts quest as soon as my but at the local Audi dealer gets in. You must be able to swap out a B6 to a B5 relay or a passat B6 relay or something. Anyone know off hand which relay controlls the mist function (if any).

I wonder if there is a vag com fix, you never know.

IIRC you can turn it off via VAG for the B7 but not on the B6.

There is no separate dedicated wiper control relay on the B6. The wiper is controlled by the Central Electric Control Module. IIRC, the B7 version of the CECM, has an adaptation channel for the drip wipe, to enable or disable the function. I don't believe the B6 versions of the CECM have the adaptation channel implemented to disable the last drip wipe. Reviewing the label file in VCDS/VAG-COM, for the associated PN CECM should show if the coding/adaptation channel is available for the CECM version of interest.
A B7 CECM will work in the B6, and provides a lot of other settings besides the drip wipe disable setting.

cool, I will try and see if I can find more info when I vah it next time, as for replacing the unit, how expensive would that be and how much of a PITA?

Standard: 115
+001 = Speed Reset
+002 = Short to Plus Monitoring
+004 = Rain Sensor active
+008 = Long Post Wiping after Washing (Drop/Tear Wiping)
+016 = Speed dependent Wiper interval active
+032 = Headlight Washer System active
+064 = Reverse Gear Wiping active

Subtract 8 from your coding to kill the extra wipe.
