    Flashing Immobilizer

OK, I did a search and read ALL the B6 A4 topics and none of them seem to be my situation.

I have a '02 A4 1.8t quattro that I recently bought used. Unfortunately I was not as well versed on Audi's as I thought and I bought it with only 1 switchblade key. So lately I have been driving and at random (to me anyway) they immobilizer light will start to flash for about 5 minutes or so then just as random as it started...it stops. Now from what I have read, I make sure that I don't turn it off during this period out of fear that it won't turn back on and I only have the 1 key. So I wait a bit, continuing to drive as normal. I (knock on wood) haven't had any starting issues yet but don't know why the light comes on at random while I drive.

The car is stock and has no other issues except a service light because I have a taillight out.

Someone please help me so I don't get screwed by the dealer blind.

have you tried calling the dealer to ask about the issue? I am not suggesting having them fix it, but maybe they are familiar with the issue and can shed some more light on it.

    Re: Flashing Immobilizer

before i changed out my ignition switch thats on the back side of the key tumbler in the steering column my car would also do this every now and then

I always thought it was because it took a few trys to start. I would have to turn the car off then back on and it would stop

    Re: Flashing Immobilizer

Called the local Audi shop. Guy was rude as fuck and said "I've never heard of it, you'll have to come in for a scan." So I say not a problem, I have tomorrow off. "Wow wow, you have to make an appointment for that and we are running about 3 weeks out right now."

WTF! I'd be better off just getting VAG-COM and doing it myself. Oh and they want $300 for another switchblade key.
