I think I blew my clutch or the trans is going quick.

Was driving, made a gear change and it wouldnt go ito gear. Will call the stealership tomorrow and have them tow it up and look at it. Hell I havent had this car a year and it was crtifid. Just hope I can grab a loaner car from them.

Well, I suppose this is why we pay so much, lets see if their customer service lives up to its rep.

    Ill keep posting.

You believe there is no dealership that has a loaner car... so my car is going to be towed via audi roadside to the nearest dealership, which has no loaner car. I call two other dealerships and they dont have loaners right now...

I just hope this is an easy fix. Whos clutch goes at 31,000 miles?

    yours?

Sorry, just had to say that. Bummer about the problem. Clutches should go 3x that long unless they're seriously abused.

Well that is why I got the certified used status on the car when I bought it, it has 20,000 but it was driven by some small woman (the seat setting told the story) I figure she didnt like shifting... atleast this is how I feel it.

Still under warrenty so I think they will replace for free... any thoughts???

I specifically asked twice when I bought mine if the clutch would be covered, and I was told yes.. so hopefully, in your situation you will be covered. I know I had a friend of mine who was under warranty, yet his clutch wasn't covered because it's a wear and tear item, like brakes.

    Good luck!

thanks, yeah well. 30,000 isnt wear and tear on my part, Ive only owned the car for 8 months. and they have done regular services on it during that time, so...

I think either clutch or some part of the clutch mechanism.

ill find out today or tomorrow i hope.

my clutch on my B6 took a dump after I had it for 1500 miles, the car only had 33k miles, I had it all covered under warranty. I lucked out with a nice service tech, really depends on where you take it.

The clutch can go out very easily if the person driving rides the clutch during rush hour traffic every day, to and from work.

Re: Think my clutch took a dump...

Well they say it requires a tear down to determine if it is just a worn clutch (NOT COVERED) or if something broke (MOST LIKELY COVERED).

I hope something just blew apart... this could get expensive :(

PS if I do need a new clutch I wonder if they can just replace stock with an upgraded one? any thoughts, southbend comes up alot, what do they run?

    thanks all

So Audi wont cover the issue, they say someone mistreated the clutch, so they wasnt ..... $3000 to fix :O

I called customer care and spoke with them, I have only had the car 8 months and 10,000miles. They took on the case and will review it to see if they will help with the cost.

    Ill keep posting.

you can upgrade to a southbend for less than that with labor. thats absolutely ridiculous.
VW Touareg V10 TDI. Don't mess.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you, Body kits and decals are how much of a mess you leave on the wall.

with 30K+ miles on your car, you can be pretty damn sure your new clutch won't be shot before your warranty runs out. so rather than spend $3000 on a stock clutch and labor at the stealership, you might as well go for this option like A4CEI said.

Take it to an indy shop. Parts (hell, even including a new flywheel) plus labor will probably be about half of the quote from Audi...

well like i said, if Audi customer care feel that this is something they would liek to assist me with then it could be a bit cheaper, as for going to an indy shop, I still have factory warrenty and want to make sure all of the work that is done is done at an audi shop... as to retain warrenty on all other items and so if i ever sell the car I have all of the paper work in order...

The clutch is a part that warranty really wont cover. So you're better off going after market. It will be cheaper and will be able to hold more power in case you want to get chipped.

We can set you up with a Southbend clutch that'll last longer and feel better AND be cheaper. Screw stock clutches. I blew mine at 40k and upgraded to a Southbend FE and it's amazing. Although lots of people say it's too stiff, I love it since you actually can feel it compared to that noodle clutch they call OEM. Anyway, there are different options than the FE that feel more OEM like. PM if you'd like me to shoot you a quote.

thanks all, unfortunately the car is in peices on a dealer rack and they wont install an aftermarket clutch AND consider assisting me with the price. I did speak with Audi about the upgrade and they were very resistant and spoke of warrenty issues to the drivetrain.

Even if they give him a break on the cost - it's still going to be rape.

It's easy to change the clutch on a B7 A4 - and the parts are not expensive.

You're looking at $1500 installed with an aftermarket clutch and flywheel.

I really hope they knock something big off that $3000 bill man - feel terrible!!

SO... Audi said that I was "pushing the gas pedal to the floor then lifting the clutch repeatedly hard launching the car"

Well I never did this with my car since Ihave owned it.

SUCKS but the car is almost repaired. I suppose I learned my lesson about warranty work. Not much is covgered so I should just fix things myself at my local shop.
