The ASX/AST both have poor wet traction. I have the ASX. Shitty tire.. what size we're you looking at though?

I definitely recommend getting some winter tires where you're located, if that's not an option, I've had good snow traction with my GY Eagle GTs. They are not even close to the performance of a snow tire but it hasn't caused me any problems yet with the snow here in Kansas.

definitely go with a winter tire/wheel set up. all seasons are real "no seasons." they give you average traction in all types of weather; wet/snow/ice/dry. this also gives you all new options for performance wheels and tires for the summer.
Excuse me sir, but you left your muffler at the light back there.

    Re: TIRE HELP Please !!

I would absolutely 3rd or 4th the suggestion for winter tires. If you're going to be stubborn about this, you could very well get a tire like the Dunlop Wintersport 3D's or Nokian WR. Both are basically decent all season tires tuned slightly for snow.

Again, if you're wanting to fidget with compromise in a single tire for your higher performance car that will somehow do well in temps ranging from negative 10 to 110, God help you, but you might look at the Goodyear Eagle F1 AS, which has had some pretty positive reviews, and has a $50 rebate now at Tire Rack: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....+F1+All+Season

Or the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, worth a good look.
Don't waste your money with the ASX, I'm running on my 3rd set of Kumho MX summer tires now, but I've not heard as many happy customers with the ASX.

We have a couple A4s... one has the Goodyear F1 AS (235/40R18) and the other has the Bridgestone RE960AS (235/45R17). We had a big snowstorm here recently. I took both cars out in the same conditions, and the Bridgestones are significantly better than the Goodyears in the snow. The Goodyears are much more tuned for performance -- much crisper turn-in, better dry traction, etc.

The Bridgestones aren't available in 18", but if you have 17s on your car and want good snow and ice traction, strongly recommended.

That performance difference might be because of the tire size difference. I have 20" 245/30/20 all seasons and I've never slipped once.
