[POLL:] you find $800 in your wallet tonight, and you have a:

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
(Update) So, from this thread.. I have learned the following about logical priorities for upgrading a B7 A4, from a performance standpoint, according to the B7 A4 Audizine community.

    • Suspension, before power
      • Coilovers preferred in this price range, if used/bargain for ~$1000.
      • Will safely provide satisfaction while you save again for power

    • Power (I), Intake/Exhaust/DV/HPFP next
      • following suspension, before chip.
      • allows for tuning chip to take advantage of the bolt-ons.

    • Power (II), New Chip/ECU Flash
      • Now your car is ready for Stage 2 chips, (avoids flashing twice)

Man, it's really hard to keep from going and getting flashed with the reviews you read about night/day difference. But this(above) seems to be a more intelligent way to go about things.

Would any of the software companies flash to Stage-2(+) for free if you're running their stage 1 program at first, and then upgrade to all (of their brand's) necessary stage 2(+) parts later on?

    ORIGINAL QUESTION:

stock red 06 a4 2.0T 6spd QT, with no S-line or nav, and you:

    a) buy s-line suspension
    b) buy some other brand spring shock combo
    c) buy RNS-e and some better speakers than symphony I
    d) buy helix headlights + 8000k HID kit
    e) add a little more personal $ and buy coilovers
    f) go exhaust + intake (keep stock chip)
    g) buy the apr 91/93/100 chip
    h) tint that sh*t
other: some combination of the previous or another idea?

    LETS HEAR IT ;)

thx for the quick response -- my first audi, I understand every "little mod" will be 6x more expensive. I'm trying to make the right decision about the best way to spend the first $1000. Thx again.. all opinions welcome!!

Chipping will get the most bang for you buck. You can send us your ECU and we'll chip it with GIAC and overnight the same day we receive it.

Re: [POLL:] you find $800 in your wallet tonight, and you have a:

i would do all the prerequisites before chipping...exhaust, dv, intake...that way your getting the most out of your chip when you get it installed. If you decide to do chip, do DV at the same time.

Edited: Removed the "s" in DV, only one

Re: [POLL:] you find $800 in your wallet tonight, and you have a:

coilovers --OR--- tint + chip/flash first

but if it was up to me:
1.tint + chip (you can even add a testpipe and still be within budget..assuming you will install it yourself)
    2.coilovers
3.HID kit (but stick to somewhere 4300k-5 ish)
4.sound system (I rather listen to a nice sound system than the exhaust note)
    5.exhaust and intake

just take it slowly and have fun while you are it

Handling first. Power second, everything else after that. Through in some sways whilst you're doing the suspension. You'll enjoy the ride on stock power much more for longer before needing the chip.

Wait to chip it. I know that's not the sexy choice, but it is the smart one... You just bought this car, take some time to get to know it; get used to the stock power, and also make sure that it's fully sorted out.

I say lower it first, whichever way will suit your needs/budget.

I'm gonna go with B. Suspension would definitely be my first priority, but I would go H&R Bilstein. $800 isn't enough for good coilovers unless you found a deal on Koni's.

    Chip (G) or suspension (B).

If you'll happen to find another $800 in your wallet soon, maybe go ahead and get the chip. But if you'll be driving it for awhile before any other upgrades, you might want to do the suspension first.
